It's not hard at all to find and select faces.. More like trying to push people to identify everyone in their photos rather than deciding when for themselves.

Because when your code works, you improve it by adding features. I wouldn't automatically cling to the new stuff, but how is it automatically suppression of your rights, privacy, freedom, etc.? I don't even care man, you're cool sometimes, other times I'm like

first off, let me say that most here and abroad could do with little more critical thinking on the esoteric language of our consciousness and what it means to do what we do... and think the way we think about things.
secondly, i think i almost puked on watching that video of confusion... oh well, confusion, the masses can use it to figure when to wake up, finally.
oh adn thirdly... i want us all to be connected!~~11 DUUUUR it's eventually gonna happen anyway, LETS JUST SKIP THE TIME IT TAKES TO THROW MY SOUL TO THE ABYSS!

I bet in a couple years this kind of technology will be implemented into cameras at stores and such. Our profiles will be loaded up and extremely annoying ads specialized to our tastes in various products, music, films, etc(based on internet information we've supplied to google, facebook, etc ) will pop up on a nearby screen and bombard us at all fucking hours of the day. Buy, buy, buy and stay stupid. The future isn't Orwellian; the future is the stale drone of mindless consumerism crushing what's left of the human soul.

i think though the level of invasion of privacy hasn't been changing THAT much, we are just becoming more aware of it. and it is becoming more and more legal, i suppose.
we've had illegal wire taps, spying, reading private emails, etc. etc. etc. for a LONG time.
but it is positive that the invasion of privacy is becoming more understood and recognized by the mass consciousness, it is more likely that enough people will get fed up enough to make significant and positive changes.

although i guess more and more people's privacy are being invaded... before we had access to infinite data storage it was limited to people who could be legitimate crime suspects... more or less.
nowadays we have the capacity to consider all humans as "suspects"

yes. this is facebook, I don't trust very much of what they do considering their history with privacy. All this does is suggest people to tag everyone, as if clicking on the ones they want to tag is harder. Seriously it must be saving like one click per tag? As if it needs to be more convenient for people to voluntarily identify everyone in their photos to facebook.
If we were talking about a company that didn't have such a terrible concept of user privacy I wouldn't mind, but facebook has shown that they are sneaky tricksters when it comes to that.

time will tell, i suppose. i am entirely confident that our current systems can NOT last the test of time, especially considering the "exponential times" we live in.
the smallest flaws will be magnified to an incredible degree over a short period of time. the systems we have will crumble under their own weight. we have widespread corruption, unnecessary officials, absurd and often unenforceable laws, unjust wars, incompetence, public disinterest in election and other government processes, gov't funded and supported desecration of the environment/ridiculous energy policies...
there is NO WAY it can go on like this, not in our "exponential times". the flaws are too many, the change is going too fast for it to sustain itself.

maybe. if that's what it's going to take, it won't take long to happen. and if some environmental catastrophe wipes out a good chunk of human civilization, there's no way we'll build it back up like it was before. the people who have power now would lose ALL of it if currency became valueless as the paper it was printed on. they would lose ALL their authority once people realize it is US who allow them to have it. an environmental catastrophe of such a significant scope would probably shit all over the tools that the government has to maintain control and eliminate liberties. i would hope so, anyway.
we're definitely learning from our experiences and relationships to institutions/systems and so on. some of us, anyway. enough that we can imagine and implement better systems when the chance presents itself.
