Hah, that's surprising. Eel is usually the favorite for even non-sushi eaters because it's cooked and kinda barbecue flavored. Oh well, to each their own. I'm glad that you tried and liked it.

I don't know lol. I did have some swordfish a couple months back on vacation that was like sliced into a 2 inch thick steak. Man was that shit good. I got it down in Cape Coral Florida.. Shit was crazy good. I been trying to get some swordfish up here in my neck of the woods and try cooking me another swordfish steak.

stonesun said: Damion and CH, may I ask why you guy are using LCs? I know you both use agar, therefore I don't really see the point of an LC. Is it because it's quicker than let's say agar->grain->GLC? I don't see any other advantages compared to agar. When I rarely make a LC (just for edibles), I inoculate that with an agar wedge too.
I do alot of agar-g2g, but I will use to make LC's to spread cultures. I do a little of every thing and a lot of edibles and I can make new master jars fast when I have a proven LC. Here is a pic of a few cultures of mine that are growing. CH

Yeah CH, on your part I figured it's mostly for edibles. I trade edible cultures pretty often as well, and most people ask for LC rather than agar wedge.

2 months on the shelf at room temp, topps.
Meanwhile your mycelium is becoming less and less viable. As it consumes the media and time goes on.
In the fridge. Same story.
Only drawn out over a longer period of time.
Don't store your DEX/LME LC in the fridge. For longer than 6 months.
It's advise-able. That once your LC's are fully colonized.
To aspire them immediately. Then inject into your medium of choice.
Grains, agar, more liquid media, brown rice flour cakes, or Grain LC.
This procedure/regimen of when to aspire your LC's and inoculate. Will insure you have your liquid culture at it's most vigorous.

For long term storage of a strain I take 10mL of a LC and inject it into a vacutainer and place it in the fridge.

I pretty much follow the same tek to a t except for the fact I don't use Dextrose. Does this make much of a difference ? Mine seem to do excellent with out it and I prefer the light malt over honey any day.

LC show and tell.
Here goes a shot of a Chilean LC. With the heaping. Full tablespoon of LME/DEX. Per quart distilled of water. At 70-80 percent colonization.
(Edit add)
Guys,
When taking a picture of an LC. Hang a black or dark colored drop cloth. Place your LC in front of the drop cloth. Use a 6500K light to illuminate your picture.
The light spectrum and the dark colored backgroung. Really stand out your LC. When the light passes through it. Against the dark drop cloth background.
As in the Chilean LC above.^ Chilean. LC's and a 5 Quart Grain Bag of Wild Bird Seed.
