New Setup check it out? *PIC*
    #1282545 - 02/05/03 05:21 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Here is my current setup. I recently rigged an ultra sonic humidifer today.
Do ya'all think it's too much? The air exchange should be perfect, and automated correct? Can I please have some of your times in order to set up my timer?
I appreciate it greatly... I know Anno posted his on/off time once  Thanks all everyone.

Looks like way too much perlite to me! I dunno much tho.

Oh yeah, I think its better to put something between the cake and the perlite, like foil. So it doesnt rest directly on it.

5-10 mins every hour - 5 should do it.

Thank you Raadt, Imacc, and LT, should I thorw out the perlite? The reason I left them on directly on the perlite is because of the recent post. But now do I even need perlite?

Is a terrarium supposed to be that foggy all the time or just for a little bit when you turn the humidifier on? I've never kept that much fog in for very long before and I've always had good luck, even with just perlite. Looks like a great set up though! Good luck!

no, it should definately not be that foggy all the time. that would be way too much humidity. having it that foggy would effectively "drown" your mycelium.

In my experiences with cakes, I have had great success with leaving perlite on the bottom, resting the cakes directly on it. It seems the cakes dont dry out as quickly.

Oh yea, and nice setup

Looks good..You could probably run 2 or 3 of those from that...Looks like you need to work out the timer.. looks kinda foggy..I don't have any input on the times.. but it does look promising..

Thanks, and I am not leaving it on all the time, I just wanted to get a nice pic for you all  I will do 5 min/hour as instructed. Maybe I will run another line into my 20 gallon?

Looks good.

It seems a lot of people get caught up in the technology aspect of mushroom growing with humidifiers/ automatic air exchanging/ lighting. If you stick them in a box at a reasonable temperature and fan a few times a day, that's all that is needed to grow huge fruits. I guess it takes awhile to figure that out perhaps.

why even use the humidifer? They require a lot of maintainence, and with cakes air exchange isn't that vital in my experience.

Can I ditch the drip shield now? I have more cakes ready, but need advice? Your time is appreciated.

IMO drip shields are a "band-aid" for a "problem" that should have been fixed properly.

okay, back to THIS thread...  combination of perlite and humidifier will most likely be overkill, especially in a closed 20(?) gallon aquarium. I'd try it just with the perlite. I wouldn't drop the drip shield just yet. the shield is a good way to prevent rain while you get your rH worked out. IMO, humidifers are better suited for large (like walk-in) grow areas and perlite is perfect for this rig. if you've got god condensation on the walls but not excessive/running down all over the place then your set, birth away! (hey, I hope this makes sense cuz I mighta got a bit confused with all the thread hopping  )
