Well I for one do not think that rippers death should be a reason to close up the IRC community. So, I am idling in #shroomery on EFnet . I am also registering the channel #shroom just in case someone wants to close up this other channel as well.

I think that open channels of communication are always beneficial. Certainly anyone on the old channel could hear me saying almost daily: "Pharmies and refined and synthetic drugs are unhealthy, dangerous and deadly. Stay away from them ."

It's closed. When they took it off this site, it also shut down to script users.

I have to say, shutting down #shroomery was a bad idea. I know most of the discussions that went on were mindless babble, but I learned almost all I know about growing from people there.
I guess it has to do with what going on in this forum, the discussions of pharmicuticals. Why not just regulate that instead of shutting down the chat completely? There are plenty of admins who can handle this.

It's sad that the present situation brought the closure of the irc server.
I took all the information I needed on the website but 'real-time'
shroomery users experiences and knowledge was really helpful.
It also created a community who was knowing each others.

But I understand the pressure that the administration is (I guess)
suffering.I typed ripper's real name in google and it brings a LOT of
open threads about the tragic event. People are judging and interpreting
what happened using only the logs that I've been posted online.
They make their own interpretations and condemn the shroomery
right away. That's bad, but we can't do anything about it.
Now everyone can read the logs and tell whatever they want
without knowing about ripper or the shroomery and basing
their opinions on the little information they have.

We also need to consider that most people associates 'drugs' with
the word 'bad'. They don't make the difference between
shrooms and heroin. They think every drugs kill and bring
their consumers in 'the evil life of drugs addiction'.

We need to 'let the dust fall down' and hope that the irc server will get
back in the future !

BTW, I don't know how shroomery's threads work but I think
this thread would be more helpful in the 'Off-topic discussion'
board.

I personally think it is pretty damn lame. Now when one of my buddies is online where the hell am I spose to talk to him at? Some other chat room? Thats gay as hell, but as long as you guys are getting rid of stuff without taking any of the users opinions into account, I guess there isn't shit anyone can do about it huh?
