Cheap autoclave

Well I have been looking for a autoclave for about 2 weeks now. I looked at one from my local health department someone had after a remodel it was way to big + it required chemicals. So in hunting for one someone said I should check a millitary surplus store. We have 2 in my town the first one I went to the guy was a dick so I tried the other one. I hit the jackpot there.
The guy made a few calls and found me a castle 777 from a army mash unit. I picked it up for 100.00 and got a parts rebuild kit for 35.00. all army issue. Anyway I figured i'd share this with everyone just incase someone might be looking to get one they can try this and might save some cash.
it's not top of the line or anywhere close but it's a autoclave and repair parts are cheap for it. It kinda looks more like a air tank than a autoclave it's small size made it a + also

Another good place to look , is for auction houses that specialize in used med equipment . 100 $ not bad if works right and was recently calibrated . Who is manufactuer of the clav ? What size diameter ? oopps did not see castle777 at first , kinda old , parts and finding place to calibrate may be tough . But if it works properly , can't beat that for 100$

I also found a few places online that remanufacture the castle 777 I got hold of some test strips that you lay inside and run the system to find out if it's working properly. I still have a few days to wait on it to get here. If it seems to be working ok i'll go with it. If not i'll send to to get rebuilt or trade it in.

The strips will only tell you if you have achieved a high enough temp to sterilization , not if gauges ie pressure and temp are accurate . Is cool if you found someone who can and will work on / calibrate it . Good Luck and nice shopping skills

What are the advantages of an autoclave over a PC?

main reason I got it was it's less messy to a point. You don't have as much space as a PC does though. I like rye bags because you don't have all the mess with jars. Here's a pic of a 777

This isn't the one i ordered. Mine prob won't be pretty coming from the army.

Much more accurate and pressures are on the money . You know for certain that sterilization was achieved if temp and psi were achieved . Is what hospitals use to sterilize surgicall tools with , dentists also use them . Full steam penetration my friend is what makes them so much better than a pc !
