does anybody know how this will affect sites like easynews (EZnews? idunno), where you pay a small monthly fee to download torrents of movies?

Not me, but I for the life of me cannot understand why one would pay for movie torrents...

EZnews isnt a torrent tracker. that is usenet.
i really dont know how they plan on doing this so no idea if that would be affected or not.
i only use private torrent trackers and the movies that i do download are usually so obscure the studios dont really pay attention to them. the big blockbuster films, in my opinion, all suck.

i look at piracy as shopping. if i like an album or movie, i'll purchase it, plain and simple. i support the artists i like and i don't think i'm alone by any stretch. if anything piracy increases exposure and stimulates the market. as far as music goes, generally speaking the ones making the most money off of albums are record labels and not the artists, who make most of their money touring. with movies, i hate going to the theater. the people suck and it's always way too fucking loud. i'll go see something in the theater that's worth putting up with all that, but in the meantime i'll grab cams and dvdrips and purchase what i really like for home viewing.
turning the consumer into a criminal is simply not the answer.

I don't care about some law the music industry created by crying and throwing money at a corrupt government. It still isn't stealing. They still have possession of every CD/DVD they created. I made a copy, and they can still sell theirs.
it isn't stealing.

it is still stealing though using the english definition of the word. you took for free what they intended to cost money.
However I don't think it's at all important whether it is considered stealing or not.. it's just arguing semantics.
The important thing to consider is what effect pirating as a whole has and if it is actually responsible for the revenue loss of talented artists.
Then you have to consider the best way to resolve the problem and I don't think the MPAA/RIAA/OBAMA's plan is going to do anything at all. If it does, the piracy scene will just evolve and become resistant with full encryption, distributed servers, and other ways to make it impossible to track..

Bottom line is, piracy is great unless you're a fucking cheap moron who can't stand to support the media you love. And Obummer is Satan who wants to enslave to American people, one bill at a time. Him and his cronies are now working on an Online ID database which is a step towards having a chip into your arm and being unable to purchase drugs due to all your money being on a fucking chip.

Piracy is forcing the modern entertainment industry toward a slow but sure end. Good fucking riddance.
