cake direct on wet bottom (pic)

High All,

I have seen some growlogs were the cakes were placed on a piece of thin-foil or on lids. Here is a picture of what can happen if you don't.



As you can see the mycelium is attaching to the wet substrate and is able to feed itself with moist :wink:

that's essentially how the hydrapod works. moisture is wicked directly from the rocks into the cake. most of my cakes in the pod fruited almost 100% from the bottom of the cake.

nothing wrong with that pic!  :grin: i've seen really aggressive myc snake across the bottom seeking water.

what is that it's sitting on? some kind of volcanic rock? hope it's sterile!
