To change the rules of the game, it helps to be able to show the other players that you can win by their rules first.

True, true, so very true...

darn tootin'.
if you want to do your own thing, especially in school, you need to show that you are so far beyond everyone that they just let you expand on your own. the only way to get any sort of respect in school is good grades, theres no two ways about it. if you dont get good grades (i dont care how smart you are) they dont want you to be happy. it brings down their schools average, and prestige, in their own click of school board ratings, so fuck you for that!

The current education system tries to achieve mass mediocrity... it's working.
as opposed to helping the clever and failing the weak?
i find it hard to come up with an answer on this. i dont think that the people with better grades should be given more tuiton or help at the expense of the weaker ones. and i fail to see how any way could work to suit everyone. i am opposed to private/paying schools as i feel that everyone should have the same education (if they wish to attend school) regardless of wealth, class or social position. again, it shows that wealth can get better education and resources. however, i do feel that the students who show a flair in any area and any student who wants to learn should be 'pushed' far greater than they currently are. i have seen many people who could have been better than they were if the school had pushed them further. i believe that most of it is due to huge class sizes and alot could be achieved by lowering this. i dont think financial incentives are the way to push students, we need to show them that pushing themselves and their capabilities is good for them now and in the long run, not just in their job prospects but their general well-being,
i will say more later but i've just woken up and need to get to college.

Quit.
Thats what I did.
Fuck school. Worthless institution. I'm getting a GED on the 20th, I'm going to tech school for 2 years starting next fall. I'm also getting a job soon. School is useless.

I once thought that an INTP, Meso-Ectomorphic Cerebrotonic could drive a truck or work on a loading dock, if I could remain in a high enough state of being. Problem was (and is) that I'm high-minded as well. I'm quick thinking and intellectual. So, working under idiotic and drunken supervisors, and men so crude as to introduce me to an older female secretary saying that she'd show me a good time for ten dollars,' and she wasn't smiling, was just plain hellish. If you're gonna leave college, and you don't have a trade in mind that's gonna satisfy your intellectual nature to a certain extent, you're gonna be one unhappy camper. The longer you persist, and the more time that passes, the less likely will you be to return yet another time to college.
Then there's that nesting thing. A woman isn't a gold-digger if she simply wants a decent aesthetic to her existence, and knowing you, you're not gonna be happy with an uneducated woman with velvet Elvis paintings in her trailer. It's gonna be 'tit for tat, so you better be down with 'tat' ed-yu-ka-shun if you gonna 'git dat tit.' Capiche? Crude, but ' true dat.'

Bill Gates left college, most of us are aware of what he's done. Larry Ellison quit college too, (he said, "I had a real problem with authority") he founded Oracle and is now one of the wealthiest men in the world. The man who founded Federal Express presented his idea as an assignment in his college business course, the professor said it was 'a bad idea' (at least that's the story I read). All these people hire college graduates to work for them, they're better at following orders than the entrepreneurial types.

What exactly did your teacher say on your paper? Did you have a clear thesis statement? A Topic sentence for each paragraph? Supporting details? Etc. Rose said to call her. This is what she does for a living.

I dont know for sure, but I think Sclorch was trying to tell you that you do not have to lower your standards to them. You can play thier game, cause its simple, like filling out forms(a little boring maybe, though). Then afterwards, enjoy your bitching rights. Express their hunger for mediocrity in your behavior by playing their little game. Be a walking example...
