sup shroomers? i've had somewhat of an interest in the occult for several years now but really i just know enough to get me into trouble with an actual practicing occultist. i've read some phil hine, robert anton wilson and bits and pieces here and there and know the general idea behind crowley's work and ideas.
anyway, i watched a couple of things on rosicrutionism last night. i found a mystic fire video with terence mckenna on john dee and a fascinating seminar explaining rosicrucian initiation. it really sucked me in and i'd like to learn more.
pt. 1 of the mckenna video. follow the links to see the rest. it's all there.
here's the seminar off of google video.
anyone have any more useful links? i'd prefer videos that i can't find on wiki and rosicrucian.org. no conspiracy stuff please. i'm just looking into information the actual exercises and further explanation of the model.

The problem imo of actually practicing magic is you soon enough learn it's limitations. Without practice it looks like the sky's the limit.

i'm not necessarily looking to practice, just interested in learning more about it.

The Rosicrucians in general dislike the term "magic" and prefer to call themselves mystics. The outer orders focus on philosophy, history, and basic meditation more than ceremonial magic. There are several very different Rosicrucian orders, just as there are several very different "lineages" of A.C.'s OTO and A.'.A.'. I have been initiated at the AMORC Grand Temple in San Jose, the history of which involves A.C. It was very inspiring though somewhat disappointing for several reasons. All traditions are legitimate, but since you are posting here I highly recommend pursuit of Thelema as it seems to be the most daring, direct, humorous, and progressive. Jung, Joyce, Campbell, Watts, Leary, and Wilson have all hinted at this in their own way.

i just think the world view and historical aspect of rosicrucianism is immensely interesting. and yeah, i'm buds with a few oto members here. thelema is definitely cool but for some reason i think chaos is a better fit for me honestly. i haven't tried practicing anything aside from firing off a sigil here and there (which were creepily successful each time), so i could be wrong on that. i'm open to trying anything. i'm really just not sure where to start.
btw are you implicating that campbell was a thelemite? that's something i haven't heard before. joseph campbell was one of the most important minds to come out of the previous century imo so it wouldn't really surprise me.
