You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

Good Link...
Yes, it is truly scary...but not entirely surprising. Whatever the U.S. does in regards to "National Security", Canada is obliged to follow to some extent. I'll be interested to see if this comes to fruition...I hope for all our sakes it does not.

The bottom line, according to Mr Radwanski, is this: "If we have to live our lives weighing every action, every human contact, wondering what agents of the state might find out about it, analyse it, judge it, possibly misconstrue it, and somehow use it to our detriment, we are not truly free."

Oh just shup up, you had me at hello

In vancouver, they have set up cameras at practically every other intersection, claiming to stop "red light runners".
But they could track your progress while driving, pedestrians too, it's just creepy to notice cameras mounted just above your line of sight watching everything you do!

I don't mind cameras monitoring what goes on "in public" meaning on public property (Roads, government buildings) but when those cameras monitor the goings on at someone's redence, or business, then it's a big deal.

I am firmly against any kind of monitoring of the public. Here we have cameras set up at many large red lights. As of now, the cameras are only on to snap pictures of people running red lights. But it's still disconcerting, knowing that the city has the power to watch everythign we do while driving.

We have a nose picker!

Seriously though, If the cameras stayed where they are and weren't a "slippery slope" I think having camera footage of a lot of car accidents would be great, unfortunately I think they may pop up in places we wouldn't like.

A camera is the same as a cop standing and watching.

A cop standing and watching traffic is OK.

A cop standing and watching my house 24 hours a day is fucked up.

Well I was glad to read that the Vancouver mayor was opposed to setting up cameras all around downtown claiming that it just made the criminals move somewhere else, which is true.

Problem is, you would have to tap the camera or wait a year for it to hit cable...
