If I have a new container of jars, is there anything I need to do, besided put holes in the lids before I put the substrate in? As, won't the sterilization kill everything?

Is it ok to put old ones which have just had their cakes birthed, into the dishwasher? Will the detergent in the water cause any problems? Do I have to rinse them after I wash them?

Cousin "IT" washes them by hand with antibac soap and super hot water , dry immediately , fill with favorite sub. , put in ac for 50 minutes , use as soon as cooled to room temp etc....... Technically ... Yes they should become sterile , but who knows what yuckies could be in them from the factory i.e. oils from machines , buggers from nose . Remeber the #1 rule in mycology ... They should be as clean as you would like them to be clean if you were to drink out of them. No more, no less.

If your dishwaher does not leave behind lots of film and residue , like food chunks , or soap haze , no worry just use them , but if you leave laying around for days , give them a quick wipe with alcohol or hand wash again . Is not a good idea to wash bands and lids in dishwasher , they tend to rust a lot faster , do those by hand and dry immediately .

Anti-bacterial soap is useless....1st, it will work but not when diluted, second, bacteria will become resistant to it....it's like antibiotics...use it too often and it wont work....

It is not meant to be a fix all , just a good maintance cleaner , and first time used jars , if dealing with contamed jars use bleach , flame throwers , hell JP4 will sterilize it too . But when using ac , as IT DOES , sterilization of human shit is possible with no chemicals .
Why must everyone be so contradictory ?> Insted of helpful ?
Besides maybe he is trying to create super germs !
