Mid June, Eastern Victoria, Australia

My back was killing me but I had to get out for a stroll. With the aid of some painkillers and some kind herb I set off from the locked gate and headed into the bush.

Just on the right amongst the Eucalyptus litter was a few P. subaeruginosa, first ones for the day and I had just got out of the car:

Moving on I came across some Agaricus sp.

Then I entered into the land of Macrolepiota. These were scattered through the bush like hovering flying saucers. A handsome bushland species.

Hygrocybe sp. I think....White spores

Psathyrella sp.. Fragile stem etc.

Agaricus augustus. Australian version anyway.

Not sure yet....

Lepiota sp.

I think a Trametes sp. Was kind of rubbery.

Painkillers were kicking in about now and I was feeling comfortably numb so started taking some scenery shots.

While taking one of those water pictures I spied a massive clump of Morganella pyriformis near the banks so rumbled down the hill to take this pic:

Now for the reason I go out and look for these weird things we like to call fungus. The Pièce de résistance of today's foray was finding this here Epic Amanita growing under...you guessed it, Eucalyptus. I was like fuck yeah!

I actually don't know what it is but it could be Amanita grisella according to one source. With a bit more researching and hopefully some comments by some Amanita experts I hope to peg a name on it sooner rather than later. It was truly a beautiful moment as I have seen no pictures of this type of Amanita from Australia. Unfortunately it wasn't in the best shape but I'm not complaining.
After spending too long with the Amanita taking pictures I set off up a hill and then followed a dry creek bed back down that I found last year that produced some Psilocybes. I was fortunate enough to find some more.

Was a mix of large and small:

Habitat pictures:

A few more:

Collybia sp.

Mycena sp.

After pausing to admire the scenery for a few moments I noticed the Sun was setting and I thought I'd best make a move. This is what I captured on the way out in the shrinking light:
Amanita xanthocephala

Xerula australis

I'll call this a Clavulina sp. until I'm schooled in the finer points of taxonomy.

This was a cool find. Was nearly dark and was briskly walking back out when I seen this glowing from a distance. Once up close I realized that it was in fact not luminescent but was more reflecting what light that was left available. Was more fluorescent yellow in colour, like a highlighter marker.
Pics taken with no flash, was trying to capture as it was. Haven't looked into a name yet.

That pretty much concludes this day out and about, except...............
I just so happened to come across some Clitocybe nuda on the way out. By this stage it was dark so in situ shots weren't going to happen. Here's some pictures that I took once I was home:

That's all folks! Hope you weren't bored to death with all the inactives.

Below Agaricus Augustus, I believe you have a Clitocybe species.

You should number the pics, man. Makes it much easier to refer to them. Nice shots, btw.

Nice photos Karode,
I'm not convinced that the first specimens are P. subaeruginosa though, the stipe doesn't look right for that species, these look more like P. aucklandii to me, especially with the silky-fibrillose ornamentation towards the base!
I hope your back is feeling better soon

Thanks inski, I hope so too. I'm sure the first ones are P. subaeruginosa. I'll post another pic of another one in the same area. There were a few pins there too but I didn't go out for Psilocybes yesterday so didn't capture them. They were fairly run-of-the-mill subs IMO. Again a scope could answer all in this instance.
Here's the other picture:

@elprawn: I'm not too sure if Clitocybe fits, it could. I think it may be in association with the species of Acacia it was growing under, not entirely sure though. Thanks for the comments but I wont be putting numbers in just yet. If it was for identification purposes I would but my posts are more of a reference for myself. If you want to quote a pic just copy the link location and post that. If you get my drift.

Oh I know you may not be interested in identifying them, per se, I just think it's cool when they're numbered, because I find trying to ID fun and it makes it easier for me. I guess I'm being selfish.

Ok, if the first specimens are the same as this then I agree with it being P. subaeruginosa.

That one was growing about a metre away from those two. We've had some rough weather the last week and I think they've just been hammered by it.
@msanchez420: Thanks. It is a nice area to walk in. Always manage to catch up with a local mob of kangaroos but they always elude the camera.

Damn looks like you had quite a day of it nice finds and pics I must say.
If you want to throw some of the inactives up here http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/12612752 that would be awesome I am trying to keep the thread ticking over with the more interesting shrooms and shots folks have around Vic.
In fairness I have been pretty slack but LM is pumping them out.
*edit* Just remembered you had already posted some rockin pics up so I probably didn't need to tell you it was there haha.

Nice one, like I say I have been a little slack with getting out and amongst it. Your post has inspired me somewhat though so I'll def. have to get out there on the weekend.

Great shots and mushrooms all-round, habitats too!
Seeing the xanthocephala up against the gum leaves really shows how small they are. I have a misconception of thinking they're muscaria-sized!

Thanks guys! I thought if I cobbled together some sentences it would break the pictures up a bit. Glad it didn't bore you too much.
@Lord Mayo: Yeah the A. xanthocephala was about 70mm in height so they're quite small when compared to an A. muscaria. That other Amanita that I found was more the size of A. muscaria.
