Yeah...Mars is a world of wonders alright.
Here's what you get if you go to Mars:
Seriously, who the hell wants to live on Mars? I'm quite partial to Earth, having an atmosphere is nice, trees, available water, stuff like that.
Or are you proposing we create an atmosphere there?

I don't understand how people think we're going to introduce an atmosphere on mars. Mars doesn't have an atmosphere (to speak of) for a reason.
The core of the planet has cooled. The magnetic field that protects the earth no longer exists on mars for this reason. Even if we did manage to pump a bunch of atmosphere up there, it would all just get blown away.

P.S. The Brian Cox quotes are from "Wonders of the Solar System". Probably my second favorite science/astronomy show yet (just behind Cosmos). A lot of people haven't heard of it, so look it up if your interested (lots of torrents floating around.)
