Chicken warmer to pasteurize? 1

SO i had any idea. My work is throwing out this old chicken warmer because they are getting a new one. This thing is 3x2 give or take and creates and constant humid temperature by boiling water in to the air. It can easily hold temps of up 200 and is adjustable with temps, humidity, timers and everything. i was wondering if this could be use to pasteurize massive amounts of substrates at once without the hassle of having to constantly stir to avoid burning the bottom?
Its the 2nd one on this page. http://www.hatcocorp.com/products/page/humidified-holding-cabinet-947

You just don't want it to exceed 170 degrees F. If it can hold a temp between 160 and 170 then yeah that should work fine. People use ovens to pasturize so I don't see why this would be a problem. NOW I WANT ONE!

Yes the temps and humidity levels are all adjustable. I edit'd my first post to say that. If it really will work i need to come up with a good reason to get it from my boss. id rather not raid the trash area in the middle of the night. FYI they are like $2500 brand new, but if you could find one used.

nice machine. If you set the temp to 150F, which is a good temp for pasteurization, it will take a long time for the center of the jars/bags/trays to reach that temp.
I would find a meat thermometer that could insert into the center of your substrate and turn that puppy up till the center reaches 140F or so then turn it down low again to maintain pasteurization temps.
Basically the same method as on the stove but probably easier and with more capacity.

Nope, giant bonfire in a pit of rocks, bury a butchered pig wrapped in banana leaves, surround with seaweed, pig on top the hot rocks, fill in pit with sand & rocks & let it go ALL DAY. When the sun sets, dig out the pig & PIG OUT.

He doesn't need an "excuse". Just as you say, ask for it. Its going out with the trash anyway, as I understand it.
Why he wants it? Hell, to incubate snake or rare fancy chicken eggs or chicks in. It's an "incubator" of sorts isn't it.
LOL, But, I see where you are coming from. I lived on the Hana side of Maui for awhle. Thats where I learned do whole pig pork in pits.

No good. Food holding temps are way too high for any kind of egg incubation.
Also note that you will probably have to install a 2-phase outlet to power this thing.
Your boss would probably be less inclined to give it to you if you mention the possibility of profit, so saying "I'm going to start a mushroom farm" is probably a bad idea. Though with this you could probably turn a profit selling gourmet's to local stores...
Turning it up all the way to use as a slow cooker is probably going to be the most likely use.

220 is a dryer or electric stove plug. Can always get an electricial to come out and install a 220 plug for you. Just sat you want to plug in a dryer. They might think your trying to grow weed if you dont have some sort of a reason.

Just say you're going to grow mushrooms and need this thing to pasteurize the growing medium. Legal species. Nothing wrong with that.

If you have natural gas, or a propane tank, these big ass burners will heat anything.
Get a small metal drum & cut out the top, or find the open top kind.
Get a big ass pot
Use something for a trivet & rack to hold bags above the water. Add 3 or 4 inches of water, place a lid on them & you can pasteurize about anything
Or, a big ass PC on a burner, or stove top.
All it takes is a container that will hold water, that you can heat. And, a probe type thermometer.
