Remove Tape, Cover with Filter, or Leave Tape on Holes???
    #1272527 - 02/03/03 03:14 AM (15 years, 4 months ago)

I have inoculated 20 jars and I am getting mixed reports. Should I remove the tape over the injection sites and cover with double coffee filters or should I just leave the masking tape on them. I have done previous jars and I left the tape on and they worked fine but this the most I have done at once so I would like to do what's best.

How far along are you with your jars? Do you have a vermiculite barrier?Do you have any mycelium gorwth yet? Here's how I do it-

I inject the jar (which has a vermiculite barrier or "ramsey seal"), tape up the hole, shake the jar, let it grow about a week and a half, check it, if the mycelium is growing at a good rate, I leave the tape on, If the mycelium is growing slow, I take the tape off to allow air flow. I hope this helps
