Australia becoming very controlled

First they set up a net filter now they want to keep a log of everyone's internet usage...

What's next? Fecal matter and urine testing toilets installed in every household? :methisgood:

Yeah, I read that today. I hate Stephen Conroy and his stooges.

You might be interested in what Electronic Frontiers Australia and Getup do and say about the filters etc. You can also show your support for opposing these Orwellian plans.

Yeah... like the banks online transactions... no one should be able to decrypt that, im sure there are ways to do that. Then again if your surfing shroomery you should be ok.

PGP is still pretty secure.

Australia is like usa only 10 years farther down the road. We are all screwed, all frogs in the pot getting boiled and we don't say a peep. Pretty soon you will have to march when you walk and show your papers to the cop on every corner.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

Writing on an internet message board isn't going to change a thing.

I encourage all Australians who are against this internet filter to write to your local MP explaining your disgust and what are they going to do about it? After all, they are in parliament representing you. If they choose to do nothing or are for it, inform them they will be losing votes and you will never vote for them again. Write to as many MP's as you can and don't stop writing them. If people here actually got off their arses and made a noise, the government would have to listen or they'd be voted out, works in other countries.

I just find the average Aussie to be content with being fucked over day by day and when you suggest doing something about it they are like "that's illegal" or "you can't do that here" and this is what your government has made you to think. Bah! I give up most times. Useless!

Thats pretty nasty. This world must be big enough to not be controlled by the government somehow.
