Maybe it is just hasnt colonized that patch properly yet. Leave it a couple of days and it might get thicker.

Don't panic yet. When mycelia first starts growing it looks rather thin and pale. It should thicken up and become a bright white within a few days. Good luck.

thanks, yeah. this is the very first signs of the mycelium so maybe it's just gotta have some time to thicken. i really hope this batch doesn't go sour on me

how can one tell if he has cobweb growing? I have honey water with very white round balls of mold. It would really suck trying to grow shrooms then finding out it was cobweb. Are there any documents or posts discribing how to tell the difference between the two molds??

well if they are round balls of mold dont innoculate jars with them.

They don't look like water mold that i've seen before. The mold i've seen growing in water thats been left out to long is very think white with green on top. And the documents on honey water say it should form small white balls of mold.

Cobweb grows VERY quickly. It also is more likely to attack a casing or spent cake rather then a jar during incubation. Wait it out, the mycelium should strengthen itself, I think you'll be fine. BTW, why is it taking that long to colonize? What are your temps?

well the firest 3 or 4 days i had them at pretty low temps (45-60) and then i got the incubator set up so at the lowest it's about 75 to about 82. so they've only been in the higher temps for 4 days now. i think the cold start is what slowed germination, does that sound right?

i give it a couple days, you should be alright. By the way what strain are you growing? Some mycelium looks thinner than others.

What Im saying Doctor Slavic (if that is your real name...LoL) is that Liquid Mycellium cultures shouldnt be growing Mold, Those little white bowls should be mycellium, not Mold
