Yes, of course it's possible to double the formulas.  The problem that I had when I first started out was that it was always too wet causing it to get contaminated.  It took me a while to get the formula right.  Since there would be more substrate in the spawn bag, I would suggest you to PC it for an additional 20-30 min or so.  Make sure you use a metal lid (from the canning jar) to prevent the bags from blocking the steam valve.  Good Luck!

I have been working with oven bags, but have not finished anything yet. I can tell you that they will hold up in a PC. I am working on the filter system now. (clear pvc hose with polyfill secured into the neck of the bag.)

Try using tyvek attached with an epoxy (such as JB weld) to make a filter patch.

You can get this at any Wal-mart, in the automotive section.

I think walmart has autoclaveble bags and a heat sealer. This is good cus you can make the bag as long as you want, from 1ft long to 5ft if desired. I havent tried em yet but ill be picking one up soon, so ill do a post if it works well.

take a oven roasting bag ( for cooking turkeys or roasts) cut both ends off of a syringe. after filling the bag with substrate push the (open) end of the bag up thru the syringe and secure with rubber bands. fill densly with polifill. make sure to cover the end well with foil to keep excess water out.

I have a Foodsaver vacuum packer, which
is an impulse sealer and vacuum packer in
one. Mycobags are relatively simple to make
once you create a few with this product.
The following link is to a thread regarding
this subject. Homemade Mycobags I have posted a couple of pics of
fully colonized homemade mycobags.

Good Luck in you journeys!

Peace to Everyone,

Peaceful Nomad

Yeah, this guy I know routinely makes his own bags with 600 ml grain and 357 ml water. He also adds about 200-300 ml premoistened vermiculite just before autoclaving to give a little extra water for the fruitng that is to come. The bags work great, very low tech, not need for bins and pumps and what not. He has managed to get 3 flushes off a single bag by opening the bag carefully, picking fruits, and retaping the bag in a sterile hood. One bag can do about 30 to 40 gms dried if you max it out....
