Easy way to find Hpoo

So if you are like me going door to door at horse farms asking to collect poop is not my cup of tea. Not only is it a lot of work, you get a little embarrassed when a old farmer looks at you like you have a brain tumor.
The way I go about it is using craigslist. When I type in "horse manure" in craigslist I get at least a dozen listings for farmers who are asking people to get rid of horse manure. Most of these people have a big pile of shit that they scoop out of the stalls (THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT). I just sent out about 4 emails asking if it would be possible to collect manure from the field instead and already have two responses from people saying that would be fine. One lady actually said that her horse only poops outside and that she usually ages the manure in a big pile, she assured me there were no wood chips/urine in the manure.
Just thought I would share that quick tip... I'm probably not the only one who does this but it's a nice alternative to knocking on doors if you don't know someone with horses.

So long as its not full of wood chips, shavings or sawdust. Its fine from a pile to (even urine soaked), if you have a place & room to dry it out. In hot sunny weather, spread out a few inches deep, it dries out fairly fast. It would surprise you how fast.

Or just go to a public park with equine trails and pick it up. Unless you are large scale this is a very low-key way to do it and not have to interface with someone whom you would rather not. Keep your plastic shopping bags or small garbage bags in backpacks and you can easily hide them if you hear horses and riders coming. A lot of horse trails are underused and most riders don't want to stop to talk anyway.

Thats not a bad idea I suppose, except that there are not usually large quantities in small areas on horse trails are there? I don't really have the time to be traveling up horse trails all the time. It would be good if you were planning to go on a hike anyways or if you were gonna go hunting for shrooms, might be a good place to look anyways.
On a side note, which is kinda funny. The lady I emailed about the horse poop actually said her husband would scoop it out of the feild and deliver it to me free of charge! Thats redunculous! I told her not to go out of her way though I would just pick it up. I don't think it would be good for someone to know my addy after nosing around about horse manure

Honestly, another great place to look for H. manure is to go to local state parks that allow horseback riding. Especially, during hot summer months when its in prime condition. They will usually have a sign and a bin in the parking lot with a posted sign instructing you to clean up after your horse.
Only problem is you have to beat everyone else to it.

If you live it a good-sized city, it's super easy to get hpoo from the fairgrounds. Drive up to the stable area with a can / shovel and take all you want. There are designated places outside the stables where people are sposed to put it. You don't have to talk to anybody, don't have to walk into the stable. Also btw, there are usually ways to get back to the stables without going thru the main gate of the fairgrounds. Look for an RV park adjacent the fairgrounds with horse trailers parked in it, there's probably some entrance point from the rv park to the stables.

Ooh, good call anonjon! State fairgrounds are maybe a 10 minute drive from my house...might have to scope that out.

Anywhere that has rodeo's has h/poo also. Often in huge piles FREE for the taking.
I get mine FREE from a place that boards about 30 horses. They have a pile about the size of and as tall as a 40 ft semi trailer. They even use a tractor to load it for me FREE. Good old gal owns the place. Give her a 5th of good whiskey for being so nice.

One, Two, start your quest for poo.
Three, Four, follow a horse.
Five, Six, pick up shits.
Seven, Eight, spawn substrate.
Nine, Ten, start over again.

Great idea. Why didn't I think of that? I'd rather drive 20 miles into the country for free manure than drive 9 miles to the pet store to buy coir. Thanks! Haha the people in my area seem happy to get rid of it.
