temperature Q
    #1269736 - 02/02/03 12:17 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

mine varies. depeding on if the weather is cold or not. the closet is always closed. apartments suck ass. so sometimes when the weather is cold the closets are cold. the temperature ranges from 69-74 degrees. 75 peek. but 6 of the 12 jars are colonizing after 4 days. 6th day the 7th is starting. but they are kinda slowing down. i have two small aquarium heaters i think they're like 12 watts. they keep the temp between 69-75 will this be ok?

12 watts doent sound right. thats fruiting temps u got there, since u have the heaters try to get it to at least 80. the lower the temp the slower it goes.

84-86 is optimum incubation temps- when u fruit u drop temps to 75

temperture variances are a natural thing.
i read somewhere that super fast colonization at a warm temp is not actually ideal.

i understand that part but i had these heaters already and i just thought i'd use them to heat up the box a little bit. 76 is the highest i seen now. i think it'll be ok. it's colonizing pretty good. I wouldn't want to force it to grow faster anwyay. also i can't get it to go any further than 76degrees. I don't have any other source of heat.

higher Psilocybin means ;slow colonization temps..if you want to wait .thats why later flushes are better then the first ones

What are you using as an incubator? There's a very simple and effective one here: http://www.fungifun.org/pf/incubator

If your closet is in the high 60's and mid 70's then you better cold shock the hell out of your cakes to get them to pin. Reason- you are at pinning temps already for colonizing.

umm why would i shock when it's just starting to colonize man? sorry i didn't mention that it's not fully colonized. But they're growing a slow paste and doing great. i think it's turning out well.

also i'm incubating in a rubermaid box. i think 30 gallons.
