    #1268448 - 02/01/03 03:46 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

i have some casings that are spent... can i add another layer or moist coco coir to the layer of mycelium, then put it back in the incubator and let the mycelium grow through? would i still get a decent flush?

You wouldn't get another flush by doing this. Coco coir doesn't contain any nutrients, which mycelium needs to produce fruit.

If your casings are spent, I assume you mean that they have gone through several flushes, and have stopped fruiting altogether. If this is the case, then adding another layer of casing material will do nothing. The reason your casings have stopped fruiting is because 1) your available nutrients have been depleted 2) The available water has been depleted 3) or both. If you really need to get all you can out of your casing, some people have reported dunking their casings to eek out another flush. To dunk - get a proper sized container (relative to the size of your casing) and fill it with water.... some people say spring water... I have always used tap water successfully. remove your casing from its housing. place casing in said container. Your casing will float... so make sure you get most of it under the water. I usually cover it with tinfoil and put a textbook on top.... Thank God i bought text books this semseter omg! place the container and casing in the fridge, or another cool location for approx 24 hours. never exceed 48 hours. Of course this tek is searchable... but i had some spare time. Good luck...

Nnnnnoooooooo! Never throw out mycelium, even if it is spent!

You can do several things with it now....

Innoculate honey water.
Spawn substrate.
Outdoor tek.

There are many thigns you can do with it just search around.

thanks sexcee for this information.it s really very valuable for me and also for you canada..i started to make a search in google without knowing anying. they are reaaly very hard times for me. i didn t know nothing about mush .just a word magic .. and also in lots of sites.they are talking about flushes.(it really take too long time for me to find a tek.)(and also not more than 10 search result in my country about magic mushrooms)
the 3,2 tek i didnt look so much over it because i prefer casing first. in mush mush everything seem more easy. at that times. but also about the flushes that times i though that the casing never stops. and i also got some experienced about particial grows some part it starts and then another .fucking meaning of mist (i first heared it from anno lighly).i lost so many casings that times .so much thanks.
