spent substrate - storage?
    #1267083 - 01/31/03 11:24 PM (21 years, 20 days ago)

my experiments continue apace, and terrarium real estate is getting valuable.

the old spent substrate, i'm told, should never be thrown away, but instead buried ala moe's outdoor tek with some straw and poo. the idea is to return when it's 60-70 degrees and pick!

the UK is snow-covered now, and i have no garden. any recommendations for my spent casings?

Store it in a bin, in a cool place. In spring, if you know a trusted person with garden space, that might be a good place to dig it in, with some fresh dung/straw combo & a wee bit of fresh spawn.

Ever hear of everclear? Well, all I know is that if there is a major college within 100 miles of you there is everclear around.... it is sold at many liquor stores. I am sure there are comparable alcohols sold under a different label. I have read that technically you dont NEED alcohol for extraction, but because of its extremely high evaporation rate it is ideal. Also, dont forget to soak that funus more than once, want all the psilo you can get....
