Seasol? Nutritious or antifungal (or both?)

I'm currently using the PF-tek (P.Mex) for my first attempt at cultivation - jars are colonising nicely, and I'm about to start another run of 12-24 half-pint jars.
Since I've got a reasonable amount of seperate jars to play with, I'm going to experiment a little (+/-temps, +/-moisture, +calcium, +gypsum vs control) a little.
One variable I'm thinking of comparing is the addition of small amounts of Seasol, (seaweed extract solution for , for those who don't know it. Technical analysis can be found here) either with the initial substrate mix, or when dunking.
I suppose the nutrient content would be beneficial, and possibly the growth stimulants, but it's also described as increasing insect, bacterial and fungal resistance. I'm not sure whether this is due to the stronger/faster plant growth, or an antifungal compound within the Seasol.
Does anyone care to comment from experience or inference?
Iknow Advanced Mycology is probably not the best place for a first post, especially that of a bare newbie, but I figured the question fit perfectly into this board, and I've read no mention of Seasol being experimented with here.

I am new at this but the nutrient content seems interesting : have been thinking of phosphorous myself lately...
as for the anti (viral?) micro - fungal package, I might infer the high alkalinity of the product in question may somehow be responsible for the broad spectrum it interferes with...
This is pure speculation...
My current experiments are on agar where I use a 0.5% Peptone solution for the anti-microbial (seems to leave mycelium alone)
A subsequent substrate I may like to supplement with nutrients...
Let us know how it goes ;-)

If this is your first attempt at cultivation you shouldn't be experimenting. The methods for growing are well established and until you have those down pat it will be very hard to isolate variables. Moisture content has been exhausted in the forums, and so has gypsum(btw gypsum has calcium in it, it would be redundant as an additive). I'm not trying to discourage you from finding new and exciting paths, It's just hard to run good experiments without an isolate and the experience to quantify the results. Stamets book Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms is packed with nutritional analysis of many substrates, I would highly suggest it as a starting platform.

This thread was moved from Advanced Mycology.
Reason: Moved to mushroom cultivation. Off topic in advanced mycology.

Well that batch of 12-24, now B+ Cubes only got started 2 weeks ago (the better part of a year after I'd planned).
Inoculated 16, flooded 8 like a retard before inoculation and turfed them. The rest are doing great.
I'll be dunking/rolling them in a couple days, so I'll put a little seasol in the dunk for two of them and seeing if there's any appreciable difference. I'll post up when they fruit.
What would I add to the mix if I had to slightly acidify the dunk? (I'll be adjustin the ph if required)

Vinegar.
Mushroom mycelium will fruit much better at a pH of around 5 to 6. I used to collect seaweed and dry it as a bulk substrate ingredient.
I really doubt you'll see any benefit to it, but let us know. RR

Cheers RR
Does that mean that adjusting normal dunk to ph5-6 with vinegar would be beneficial, or would that normaly be done at another stage?

A year ago, because I was a bit naive .
Now, because I have 8 cakes, fully colonised for a week, and can afford to risk 2 of them to curiosity.
If I lose the six by-the-book ones, the other two probably wouldn't have faired much better, and I only need ~6g dry yield to be happy as I'll be doing another run as soon as my pressure-cooker gets in.
I understand it could bugger them up, and am ok with that.
