Most the time you will see signs of growth within 10 days, but some times It can take 2 weeks +

Hi all,

So, I've followed the tek and things seem to be going fine (thank you).  I inoculated 10 days ago and I have some nice growth.

One question though.  Around some of the growth, on the inside of the jar, I see condensation/water droplets.  Is this normal or should I be doing something to lessen the moisture?  (I've got four uncovered holes on the top of each jar, and they're sitting in a closet).

By the way, I don't know if this matters but I couldn't get the hang of 1cc per jar and so squirted a considerable amount more per jar.  It doesn't seem to have harmed anything and perhaps made them grow faster.

Thanks.

Water droplets against the glass is fine it happens. As for over shooting more spore solution it will actually slow things down since myc will colonize a drier cake faster then a wetter one, but no worries, sounds like your doing fine

Yes the perlite is right on top of the bubbler bars. I have holes in the top lid they are 1/4 inch holes. I still fan and mist 6+ times a day. I have had 5 cakes in there at one time.

Shea,

The tek for the shotgun FC says put holes on all six sides with a wet perlite layer at the bottom (and, presumably, any excess water dripping off the perlite would just drip out the bottom holes).

I was going to use that shotgun method (without bubler or any other gear).  Should I put holes on all six sides?

Also, you recommend misting and fanning a few times a day.  Is that for a set up like I plan to use?  I'm wondering if opening it up a few times a day to mist and fan will -- even though I'm misting -- actually decrease humidity due to all the air exchange.

As always, you're advice is welcome.  Thanks.

yes the shotgun tek tells you to drill holes in all the sides. fanning and misting as much as possible will help out a crap load and is def recomended for the shotgun fc.

You know why I like this tek? It works 99.9% of the time without fail if you follow it closely.

Gypsum is an awesome addition, been getting some fat mushrooms!

Do you have a properly calibrated hygrometer, they could be drying out.

Even if your humidity is normal they can still dry. Especially
during or after a big flush. Get misty with it.

4-5 inches of perlite will be perfect. Mist the cakes 3-4 times a day and fan right after fan 5-6 times a day. I get the light as close as possible
