becoming famous...... should I develop the heroin habit now or is that something that comes later on down the road to fame?
on a serious note: any other drummers in here? been thinking of getting back into it but haven't played in years. Any reccomendations on drum sets in the sub $1000 range. not worried to spend some extra money if its worth it, but ideally I'd like to be around $600, so that I have some money left over to buy something to insulate my apartment.

You have to start with alcoholism then "start getting into more dangerous habits".
Don't you ever watch VH1 Behind the Music? hahaha

Oh. I'm way down the alcoholism and dangerous habits path. I'm well past alcoholism and into the "heavy experimentation" phase

I drool over a 22.
probably a 12. 14 would be nice but I'd rather save the few bucks, or get a nicer 12 piece for the price of the 14. I can always add later.

you can get some awesome deals on e-bay...
http://www.siglermusiconline.com/store/pc/Custom-Classic-Pro-Birch-Hybrid-6-PC-Drum-Set-with-Hardware-28p2894.htm
this is a great kit for the money, its what i'm using while i save up for something nicer. you'll need to get cymbals separately, but all the hardware is included. the shells are great but you'll want different heads. the factory ones suck.
that site also carries gretsch and yamaha kits, cheapest place i've found.
good luck.. practice rudiments, learn as many different styles as you can, and always PLAY WITH A METRONOME!!

I'd highly recommend an electronic drum kit if you're going to be playing in an apartment
I recently got sold my acoustic kit and bought a Roland TD-6 off craigslist for $700 came with a brand new amp too. Plug in your headphones and you can jam all night without any noise complaints. Look into it
