Mushroom Tea: What flavor?

Hey folks,
I made mushroom tea for the first time last night; well, it was actually a truffle tea. Wow! I loved it. I could barely feel it on my stomach. I used to always eat them and it never really bothered me, but my buddy always gets an upset stomach. So we tried the tea. The tea hits you very quickly... goes straight to your head. I loved it.
I just used a cup and a half of water for 17-18 grams of fresh sclerotia. I added lemon juice to the water and a dash of orange juice and a bit of mint. I let it simmer/lightly boil for about 15 minutes, strained the truffles out, let it cool, and gulped it down. It tasted slightly like truffles, not much, but slightly citrus for the most part. I didn't add any tea bags to it, so it really wasn't a "tea."
Any tea drinkers out there that would recommend a specific flavor or type of tea that would compliment a little freshly squeezed lemon, orange and maybe a dash of mint? Something summery? Something to further settle the stomach?
Thanks
M

No other comments? The other day they were posting like mad.
Anyway-if your friend smokes mj (in general) tell him to toke a bit to help his stomach.
Otherwise-I find boiling the water with some fresh peeled and sliced ginger pieces will help with nausea or stomach issues relating to fungi. (I eyeball, but I would say about 1/4 cup for 750 ml of water)
Also. ginger goes pretty well with mint and lemon so it's not a gross tasting liquid either. I don't add tea bags either, but it's called tea because the fruits are steeped in a mix of very hot water and flavorings, to produce a liquid that is consumed hot or cold.
While this may or may not be the textbook definition of tea, it's a similar method.

Here
I think I may order some from this company. Maybe their citron green? Some fresh truffles, boiled in tea with citron green (green tea accentuated with lime and lemon), with a splash of fresh lemon juice and a hint of honey sounds delicious.

I don't know why I never tried tea up to this point. I have tripped many times, but I always just ate them. I thought attempting an extraction would be less efficient than just eating them, but I noticed no potency loss from the simmer/boil process.
Truffle tea is awesome.
Does the length of time simmering/boiling make a difference? I only did it for about 15 minutes.

There's been many a debate about how long you should/can boil tea... and the answer is, "Nobody knows for sure".
I usually do a double extract. I boil about half the water I need... with all the fungus then strain the water into the tea container, after 5-10 minutes. I then add the rest of the water and boil again then I add the soggy fungus back into the pot and boil again for 5-10 minutes. I do this JUST IN CASE extended heating damages the early extracts (which it might... like I said, nobody knows). Prolonged heating does seem to extract more lovin (especially with truffles), that much seems true from my experimenting. I suggest y'all give it a try.
I have also mixed tea making with the lemon extraction tek with interesting results. It seems to be the best of both worlds (if you can handle tea with a larger than average lemon kick)... but I have only limited experience with this method. Simply put, I soak the fungus in lemon juice before adding the fungus to the boil and the juice to the tea container.
I am always looking for the perfect trippy tea recipe.
Here's one of my old favorites Don Quixote's Mint Tea Tek
IME, cubes extract faster than fresh truffles... and dried truffles should be ground up in a coffee grinder before extraction. The 2nd extraction really seems to make a difference, especially with truffles.
Mint is my favorite tea flavor for shroom tea... a very subtle flavor but it completely masks the shrooms. I am always impressed when I drink a very potent brew with only the slightest of flavors (a little lemon is great and it also helps a bit with extraction a touch of honey is nice too. ).

Thanks Cervantes, I really appreciate that. You have not only guided me with my truffle grow, but you have helped me with my tea.
I chopped the fresh truffles into very small pieces, placed them in 1 cup of luke warm water with a noticeable amount of lemon and a splash of orange juice, and began to simmer. I didn't notice any potency difference from eating them and the tea. I was quite pleased. I will have to try the double extraction technique.
I did notice that the tea trip was slightly shorter than when I usually eat them. Within 10 minutes of slamming the tea I started to feel goofy. After smoking a bowl, I was instantly making the climb. I was peaking within 30 minutes or so.

I usually use a strong black tea but I've recently bought some 'Punjana' Irish Breakfast tea that goes really well with lemon.

Yeah! Good stuff!
I am beginning to think I can extract more lovin from truffles in a tea extract than my body can digest when I just eat 'em straight. Truffles are so dense and fibrous... they don't digest easily.

exactly! all i usually do is add a couple generous squeezes of honey and it tastes awesome. i know lemon is suggested a lot but i'm just not big on lemon in any kind of tea. i've also done caramel in the past as well as made sweet iced tea with lipton tea and sugar. i still prefer straight honey.

Tea is great! Your stomach has the chance to absorb a lot more alkaloids very quickly, before tolerance begins. IMO it's the crack version of taking fungi. Comes on fast and hard!
I use a half cup water per dose, bring it to an almost boil, remove from heat, add ground shrooms, steep 10 min. with a little fresh ginger, lemon, and sugar if desired.
It kicks in so fast, make sure your done doing all the evenings prep work. Usually hits me in 10-15min.

In the event that I wanted to trip again tonight, how many truffles would I want to add to my tea? I took about 17-18 grams last night. Would I want to take close to 30 g?
I guess I personally don't know what my tolerance is like since I don't trip too often.

The general idea is to double one's dosage, but I haven't tried to trip 2 nights consecutively so I only know from anecdotes.
Cervantes always has good info, especially on truffles. I usually steep the crushed goodness an extra 5 minutes-so it would be like 15 minutes, twice. I then follow up with a final steeping of 20-30 minutes, and then add that to the rest of the liquid
Anyone eat the remains? I know people suggest it and I haven't tried it yet, but I would assume there's leftover alkaloids to be had if one so desired, by consuming the "spent" fungi.

Drink slowly to alter the fast come up.
Although I prefer fast. Less time feeling weird... between tripping and sober.
