so im curious if the amount of shrooms comes from how many spore were in the cake or the mycelium poduces random amounts of shrooms

Doesn't matter the amount of spores (usually "less is more" with spores).
It has to do with genetics.

Don't know if some1 posted this yet, but ANYONE considering using bags should give this a SERIOUS look. Its 10 year old technology, but I think we were all too busy tripping and forgot how well these actually work.
