Whats the difference? R&R videos show the seeds to be way easier than berries, jest get the seeds add water, gypsumand PC.

seeds are used for sclerotia, berries for spawn, but they work either way.
use the search function for such generic questions.

Rye Grass Seed just look easier. They work as spawn for cubies but rye is easier to get right, even though theres more steps.

Don't confuse rye seed/berries with rye grass seed. One is a grain, the other is for lawns. They're two separate species.
Both work for spawn or sclerotia. RR

Please dont be crappy about me posting here, but i was'nt sure whee to post this and i really need help!!
i have been reading through the forums for an answer for a while now and still i am not sure so i figured id just ask someone who knows what there doing! I have three rye grain mix pf cakes (vacuum autoclaved) and a lc syringe (Ecuador) from someone who says he has 20 yrs experience growing. the syringe looked healthy, all with white stringy things, now checking today its got kinda fuzzy balls of white, with 2 or 3 little black spots in, are the black things contams? also i inoculated 1 of the cakes with this lc 7 days ago, the mycelium after 3 days was looking very weird, transparent, not solid white, then after 5 days it stared showing a light red/purple (maybe burgundy) in the myc itself, today its still there and in some places the myc seems to be turning a little more white and looks to be still growing. I have asked the man i got them from and he assures me its ok?? but i really am thinking its some sort of contamination, it doesn't quite look like lipstick mold, or the nervo something(?) one. it does look to be part of the myc though hence asking for a second opinion!!!

When I was new at this I thought the same thing and tried some rye grass seed. It turned into a big solid glob that wouldn't shake. It's hard to get the moisture content right. Eventually the jars fully colonized, and I had to crumble it up to spawn it, but it took over a month for my rye grass seed jars to fully colonize since they wouldn't break up when I shook the jars. Produced some KILLER fruits but it wasn't worth the time it took.
Stick with organic rye berries. They are more expensive and slightly more time-consuming to prep, but soooooooooo much better to work with. I was instantly a convert.

your jars are contaminated throw them away, jar and all, or pc them before you dump them outside.

Yes separate them, and toss the contams - seriously, don't even open the jars.
