weird idea would it owrk

ok i have a weird idea to make a incubation chamber people allways use 2 rubbermaid containers one at the bottem with water and fish tank heater in it right then u put 4 jars or like some bricks at the bottem and put the other container in it and let the water go 2/3 up well what if i put the jars in the water half way and turn the heater on to 85 so like the jars arnt under water but there in the 85 degree water would that work?

Yes, but you would have to be careful that no water gets into your jars as that can cause contamination. Keep them covered with aluminum foil. What I do is stick a big jar of water with the water heater in it... cover the lid of the jar.. and crank up the heater really high until its hot water... and heats the ambient temp of the terrarium to 85.

would a pickle jar work at all? or i mean the problem i have is that the the first container i put the water in the heater in the middle and 4 jars then i put the top container on and it was like floating on the water so i tried weighting it down and it still just floated at the top should i put like 2 bricks in the top container then put my jars around the bricks then put the blanket on top?

So it floats.. !! no big deal.. let it float!!

If you tip a jar in water, you are out of a jar.. tip one with the 2 container setup and just pick it up and all is well.!!

Nothing wrong with 2 containers... it's still the best option!!

ok ill let it float i just hope i dont mess up my first time doing 5 jars with 2 cc each just not useing a pressure cooker doing the steam method

good idea!

floating doesn't matter, but tipping does. like it has been said b4 just don't let the water touch the rim or get into the jars.

P.S. why are your jars floating??? isn't the weight of the glass keeping them down in the water?

Since its good practice to have air exchange then u would probley not set them in the water. also lids tend to rust.
rusting makes it dificult to open the lids.

I tried this but it seems to be far too humid for the jars. Also can be hard to maintain a constant temp
