All this I have considered. I’m deciding to keep them inside. Too much risk for me to take at this stage. I don’t have a solid source for seeds and I’ve lost so many sprouts. I’d be heartbroken if anything happened to these 4. Thanks guys for all your input and helping me to make my choice.

guys guys I did it! 5 year old peyote seeds germinated! I counted 13 Lil green shoots some hidden from camera.
so how long do they stay in humidity before opening up? I remember that was an important part cause too long can cause them to rot.

Nice sprouts glad to hear the old seeds came up. I usually ween off humidity dome within a couple weeks and move outside in full shade. Dunno where you are, I'm in a warm climate USDA zone 9.

I'm in something called high desert, forget the number. my winters still freeze and can kill non native cacti like the tricks.
I also had that rat problem devouring cacti. I haven't finished revamping my plant cage. gonna have to go full 360 wire mesh to keep them out. seriously they tunnel, climb, and squeeze through pig wore so I jave to go smaller. alkaloids seem to have no effect deterring them.

Well I'm back.
Glad to see this forum and particularly this thread still alive and going strong (I see some familiar usernames). Many years break in growing cacti but I somehow managed to keep some of my lophs alive. Guess what ? The grafted ones pretty much all died, the ones in rich soil bit the dust too. My harsh winters and lack of care got the most out of them. The stone eaters and own roots seelings carried on with me, withstanding the constant abuse.
This big guy is my very first loph. A pereskiopsis degraft from my first ever purchased pack of loph seeds. Since a few days, a seedling sprouted on the side of the container. Not the first time it happens, I guess the lava rock layer promotes seed germination.

The own roots seelings in straight river sand and random local rocks (they are almost 6 years old I think ). I think the "big" guy is a diffusa and he's starting to put out some strong growth and nice tuffs. If he flowers, I'll try pollination with other lophs if I can. Own root seedling producing a fruit and seeds after 6 years would be so amazing...

Everyone who has expressed interest in my seeds, take note. Some localities are running low on stock and this weekend I will be counting out 3680 seeds for a big order. So be quick, fair warning.

All my lophs in one picture :

I've noticed that there are at least 10 seedlings in the middle top pot. I'm ok if they self reproduce without any help

Hey y'all...quick question to put my mind at ease (hopefully)
How long is too long to leave loph's out of soil to allow roots to recover after trimming them?
It took me a bit longer to get everything I needed, and they've been sitting in my room for about a week now.
My gut tells me they're okay, they look fine... but I just wanted to doublecheck.
