Here is a short timelapse showing the growth after harvesting the flesh rather than the entire crown.

Hi about 2/3 weeks ago my grafted peyote were thriving (grafted Nov last year),
The first picture was taken late Nov, , I found 3 bright green caterpillars about 1cm in length, removed then and use mortine for a bit then wash it off. I don't know if it is because there is more caterpillars' inside or it is fungus.
I will leave overnight and will probably wash the soil off and repot with new soil mix off the ( 1 peruvianus and 2 pachanoi bases). I have many other non grafted ones and they seem to not have suffered in any way. About 20 that were on the same window they have always been and some new ones recently done too. I'm confused as what could cause this. The guess I have is sunburn or light problem / Infested with something is the other. i have Williamsii, Ariocarpus and Williamsii Var. Caespitosa I have had deaths before but have been learning for a while now. I found contradictory information a lot, and have learnt the best people to learn from are people how actually do it or at least try. I have 1 window in the right spot or id have them on every possible place i have never grown bored of watching them, many mistakes over the years, the mistakes hurt but I'm happy i keep trying as they make me happy. I have grown cacti numerous other plants of all sorts for most of my life. Now stuck in 2 room apartment for a while, ill have my garden back soon one way or the other
I appreciate any and all help I did have a look through to see if anyone had the same problem or similar but didn't see anything.
Again thank you all for you time

Ill post some pic of my other to share too

Hello, Ive been observing my cactus get dry scaley skin over the past year or so.
They used to be plump rich green smooth skin, now they are cracked and scaley.
is this spider mites , or fungus causing this? Check these pics.
There are 2 different peyotes in these pics.

To me it looks more like mite damage. Could be corking but Im leaning twords mite damage. They can grow out of both if you can keep the mites at bay. It will take some time however.

Hmmmm..... Im assuming thrips and mites are both to small to detect ? because ive never seen anything pest wise, and only the peyotes are effected in this way along side many other succulents and cactus, san pedros ect.
Are there any good tips of how I should proceed taking care of these thrips / mites?
Thanks for the feed back guys, been bummed out on this for a minute.

Thrips are very fast moving little tiny running things. I don't see any mites on there. The thrips will hang in the cracks and are very very small. Only 1 or 2 at a time might cause that kind of damage. If that is the case it will grow out of it if you get rid of the thrips.
Bonus is some thrips are territorial and keep spider mites at bay which are much worse.

Im looking at it under a microscope now and it looks like a white resinous dust. Sort of like trichomes, or some kinda of dust.
This leads me to beleive its fungus, ive not seen a single insect in the soil or on the plants themselves.
They have been white scaley like this for about a year with very little improvement or vigorous growth.
hmmmmm

Im almost thinking its scale now.
it seems i can wipe this white stuff off to some degree, And theres little white spots here and there but i thought the white spots were part of the Peyote?
hmmmm....
Im really leaning towards fungus or scale as there is zero pest activity and its seems to be some sort of surface dust i can wipe of a bit.
im wondering about wiping it down with 70% iso

Damn now im thinking mites again. Looks like others who have had mites.
Should i just hit these guys with the neem and repot?
They dont seem to be to negatively effected at this point.

The RSM type mites that like lophs are way smaller than the two spot, etc. types that like most other plants. They are hard to see with the naked eye, but you can see them with a scope. They like to hide in the wool and crevices too. I got rid of a mite problem by sprinkling sulfur powder or DE on the cactus. Rosemary oil will kill mites too, but you have to be careful with oil sprays on cactus. I always go to spinosad for thrips because it works better than anything else I've tried.
I'm not 100% sure it's mites or thrips, especially if you can't any under a scope. It could be a fungal thing, idk. There's a lot of organic material in your soil, which would make it more prone to that.
They don't look that bad though. I've had a similar cracking skin thing that wasn't bugs or fungus that the plant grew out of...I'm pretty sure I've read about a couple other people having that and not being sure what it is...maybe a nutrient thing?
If they were mine, I'd repot them in a more mineral heavy soil, and keep scoping occasionally for mites/thrips. IIRC, the mites like to come out in the open more in the dark.
Also, @ BobTheFly- My first thought was sunburn, but after reading your post again and googling what mortine is...I think that's what caused the damage. I've seen other pictures of spray burn from different things people use to get rid of pests, and they often look like that. I'm not sure what to do except ride it out and see what happens. Maybe give it some shade while it's healing, idk.

I had gotten so dispirited by the aborted fruit a while back, that I stopped taking photos of flowers, but theyβve continued to come, and Iβve continued to pollinate them all by hand.

And now Iβve got another fruit. This one is much larger than any of the previous. It looks like it might actually have a couple seeds in it. Iβll let you know in a few days when it releases with a gentle tug. Still holding pretty strong.

This popped up the other day. It's been at least 3 months since this one has really had water, I'm kind of surprised it didn't wait until spring.
