Solo, fall and winter is the best time to germinate cactus seed. They will grow all winter and have some decent size in the spring to go out in the sun. I used to always use T5 bulbs and a heating mat. Now I just leave everything in the greenhouse.

P1F10 manually selfed. F11 on the way. For a minute I thought I might get a double-bloom.

Still no sign of fruit. Might need to re-evaluate my pollination method. Just been using a very small, soft-bristled paintbrush, gently brushing pollen up from stigma onto the anthers.

I'm still impressed that they keep on blooming especially with the weather cooling down. It's curious how still no fruits with all the crossing that you've done. Have you've tried whispering sweet little compliments and adorations to them while pollinating? That might get those girls turned on .

I germinate in straight coir/verm or Jiffy mix without issue. Just keep them moist and humid.

Hey guys, I have no idea what Iโm doing here. Zone 8b high humidity. Not sure how well itโs going to go.

The original plan was to graft, is this a de graft? Keep it rooted? The sand is itโs resting place for now. Help please.

SYF8 you should get your plant into a โcactus mixโ soil immediately. Sand alone is not good. A basic over the counter mix will do just weed through it and pull the small chucks or wood out.

P3F7 manually selfed

โโโโโ
Unrelated to the flowers, my pereskiopsis rootstocks are nearing 1 year old and are beginning to drop leaves. Iโm thinking of degrafting from the pere in the next couple months and probably regrafting onto a new stock. I have plenty of T. pachanoi thatโs about the right size for the 3 flowering lophs I regularly share here.
Does anyone in North America, zone 9B have tips about best time of year to degraft/regraft? Probably fall?

It absolutely is. I planted 5 as a test, and I just saw another one just coming up!
How long should I wait to open up the lid? Iโd really like to hit them with the macro lens but donโt want to compromise the environment.

You can leave it as long as it doesn't show signs of mold. I tend to always have issues so I remove completely from high humidity at 1-2 months. Most people recommend 6 months I've read of people keeping as long as 2 years.

Last batch of seed I started back in May, took the lid off after 4-6 weeks. Been chugging along fine since then.

Thanks for the video, gonna have the check the channel deeperโฆwatched the โcrown cutโ awhile back and, well, thanks for that info. I would like to keep the harvesting as friendly as possible.
I think Iโm going to wait until at least April give or take. Coming into autumn so itโs going to be start getting cold and dry.
My concern though for now itโs just taking the top off for a few minutes to take some macro photography. Think itโs worth it? Or should I just let them be..

I use sauce cups for take out orders that are less than 50ml and I honestly leave mine in for years till they are larger. Like others have said. As long as theres no mold . if I see mold I take the lid off and in a few days it's gone or a mild h202 mix if its an emergency .
After some time you can graft or transplant them .

YOU GUYS! First Fruit!!!!!

P3, unknown which number flower was successfully fertilized. Itโs at the outer edge of the apex, so it mustโve been one of the earlier ones. If it was the first flower on this plant to open, it was manually selfed on 8/5. The second flower was the first to be manually cross-pollinated, on 8/15. Either way, hopefully this means finally thereโs more coming on this and the other plants.
