modern, that is pretty cool. So harvesting the outer flesh but leaving the apex intact will alow it to keep growing out alright?

Man, those are sweet! And that's awesome to have multiple ones opened at once to cross. I admit, I'm so jealous.

They're all Northern type genetics too so crossing is a breeze with a paintbrush. I didn't even post all the flowers that are going off in the rest of the loph garden, have a bunch more about to pop doubles and triples too.

That's a Northern Type caespitose specimen -- I've not seen many of them around. They produce pups a little differently, it's about 50/50 areole pups and exploding from the center of the original button style. Here's a photo from last year of that one.

Mel these are gorgeous, may I ask the age on any pictured you may remember?
Here are a few of my oldest getting larger pots and fresh grit before the winter. They'll be turning 5 early next year. I was even more clueless when I first started and probly should have healthier nicer plants by this point

I got most of my collection about 10 years ago which makes my oldest probably about 50+ years old and my youngest, excluding seedlings, about 15 years old. They've been hard grown most of their lives and are growing about as quickly as if they were still in the wild (probably also due to low light windowsill sun for many many years). This year was the first time I was able to put them outside properly since I found a popup mesh tent and some appropriate shade cloth/bird netting for them.
Those young ones look great, it's all about the relationship with them.

50+..wow...feel a bit better though, if you had said 8 years old, I'd a proly start crying.
So it is possible to use a low level light windowsill and still keep healthy looking plants. Every winter I pack my cactus away, including lophophora, but I would much prefer keeping them (lophophora) where I could see all day. How was the watering schedule when they were in the window?

Due to many years of moving around from state to state they spent a lot of time (including all winter) on windowsills where they didn't so much grow as just remain static for many years -- but they still flowered every year even with minimal sunshine. I keep mine on windowsills all winter too just with no water until spring time.

This is really good to know. Thank you for sharing. I'm happy for you and your plants that they are settling into a nice new spot, I'm certain that feels pretty damn good.

P1F9 (above) opened yesterday, P3F5 (below) opened today

Attempted manual cross pollination. Still no signs of fruit. Only one dried flower has fallen off of any of the 3 flowering plants.

Received a bunch of seeds from a friend the other dayβ¦( some still stuck ti dried fruits, canβt wait to pry them out and taste it) Heading into autumn currently, Southern NY, 7a. Highs of 74 lows of 54 currently. My question is, should I wait till spring to germinate? Or would it be okay to do so now? Obviously indoors, climate controlled, close to a windowβ¦lights are an option but would take some finagled ..takeaway tek style.
