woke up today and found this guy is starting to get a bit soft and some wrinkles on one side. I moved it from under my t5 lighting in a closed room to a window downstairs a few weeks ago its been getting some more sun also its colder at night where it is now.
Been given it more water and nutes have a feeling its over watered or maybe over fed with nutes? and not sure what to do next?
Thanks guys.

If it has remained wrinkly or gotten more dehydrated, in spite of watering and in light, that can suggest a problem at the roots. But perhaps a touch of sunburn?

Thanks for the reply back and yeah it might be a burn cause it only is like that on one side. I have it in a 2 gallon fabric pot maybe it needs to go into a bigger pot?

Here is a lil update of my first succesful loph graft:

It is still pretty small but has at least doubled or tripled in size already as well as start several pups.
Since this one started growing I managed to get 2 variegated grafts to take but they have not started growing much yet.

Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

Look at all the pups! Is that a caespitosa graft?
I just got a caespitosa graft to take, can't wait till it starts to explode with pups

Very nice. L. koehresii is usually the first for me as well, but this Spring one willy beat them. You should comb your plant.

hey Dety, long time no see! you caespitose plant isnt sunburned, notice hwo the discoloration is down more in the cracks, and also where new pups are emerging, in other words where the main head is breaking open and F'ing up all its cells to give birth to new stems. thats the discoloration. that is exactly how caespitosa should be looking, no sunburn no signs of rot etc. one of those if it aint broke, dont fix it deals. if you get soft and wrinkled plants, it is almost always dehydration, but your plant looks just fine so if you are laying off water due to seasonal temps, dont worry.
,ostly harmless, nice plant. although L. fricii has always been my favorite, L. koehresii is anear second because of the sheer willingness to flower. its the closest thing to a hanazono asterias in the loph world. Chinese name for hanazono is "garden asterias", which i find also fitting for koehresii. Lophophora 'flower garden' haha.

Get yourself a good general purpose plant fertilizer (the "blooming" or "fruiting" formulation) and dilute it at 1/10 or 1/20 strength before watering. Make sure the fertilizer is the type with trace elements.
Still, it wouldn't cause those orange spots. Those I would suggest are either too high humidity or a mild RSM attack. Ventilate and inspect the plant with a magnifying glass to see if there are minute yellowish/reddish mites crawling around.
Ty for the high humidty advice. Thay was my problem im pretty sure
I have two variety. One is prone to high humidity fungus while the other was not and was in the same conditions
I put it on the window seil and gave it some nice spring sun shine. It's looking better already. The orange spots are going away already
I also moved it closer to the light, which brought up the temps a good bit to high 80s

My attempt at grafting a loph seedling onto a trich seedling ended in a big fat fail! A slightly satisfying fail, not sure why. You can see the little root coming from the loph, it's very well attached though

It did not make the vascular connection. You can try regrafting it to the same seedling, though.

Just try doing it BELOW the sprouting areole and towards that side. There is an active vascular bundle there. I do this on the rare occasion a Peres graft fails, retrying below the areole that (inevitably) sprouted.

Absolutely - a plant can no more live on pure water than YOU can. Whilst you MUST have water to live - if you are deprived of water you will die within 4 days - water alone contains no nutrients. If you are given water only but no food you will die within a few weeks. You MUST provide these nutrients if your plants are to survive - either in the soil in which they are planted - or as a fertiliser that you add. Most of us do a bit of each.

Can someone tell me what is going on with this graft:
I thought the pups were just coming out a bit pink from being moved into the sun quickly but now they are getting a very strange beautiful bright hue.
They look almost blue/ purple to me in person but the photos seem more pink Should I move them out of the sun or is it probably fine?
Also here is the bigger of two variegated grafts from the same plant as the above graft:

One last question, I have a degrafted caespitosa cluster that has been sitting around for months, I had it on some dry cacti mix for awhile but it never rooted. Recently I realized a piece on the base of it was so dry I literally cracked it off the plant... So clearly it could use some water but it has yet to root so I don't know what to do except graft as many pups as I can...
Thanks for looking and any helpful advice!
