What do you guys recommend for starting loph seedlings? I've just tried the sand method, works well, but I'm wondering if it is a little slow due to the lack of food in sand.
I'll be candid, I'm trying to figure out the fastest, not necessarily best, medium to start them for the grafting contest

Wouldn't the medium which promotes the fastest growth be the best tho??
I mean, I get where u are coming from totally.. but the medium which makes them the happiest will cause them to grow most rapidly in my eyes...??
Is this thought silly???

I like to do 50 percent miracle grow cacti soul and 25percent small rock 25 percent sand
They seem pretty happy.
I remember I had them all in pure coir for a while and they fucking hated it. That was before I knew much about cacti though.

I'm going to give it a go. I have a good 30 - 40 peres stock to work with now, so maybe I'll do 3 side by side seed starting mixes, see how they turn out. Can't wait for the grafting contest

For seedlings I use the same mix as adult plants - just ground a lot finer. Again, trying to emulate as much as possible what happens in habitat.

No I didn't, but honestly you'll get much better info from someone else here, I just started growing lophs this winter.
I put them on top of the soil, sprayed well, put into a plastic bag for humidity. They need to stay on top of the soil

Noo need to soak. Just sprinkle them on top of your soil like a lophophora seed fairy.

I'll be pouring agar in a petri dish, and praying to the fairy, as I sprinkle them onto the surface.
