Those look hard grown to me, but I be tripping on mescaline so take that with a grain of salt.

Damn you Zap you got me jealous
I was referring to the fact that they looked swollen to my eyes but they could have just gotten a good watering before they were packaged.

It's hard to tell, but ultimately pointless: if they were degrafted they're on their own for some time, those roots don't grow overnight. Nice, clean plants with the beginnings of a good tap root, what more can you ask for?

Little beauties!

How long should i wait after potting them to water them?
Then is it only a light water or what? They are still pretty firm and plump, so i imagine they could sit for a while.

Since it's getting to be fall and I've stopped watering my other lophs, personally I'd probably just pot them up and leave them be until spring.

Oh ok well we're in the same zone and things are wrapping up here but I'd say you probably have about 2 weeks or so before the cold really creeps in here to get them a good dose of water to last them the winter.
Just checking but What are your night temps there?

I personally wouldn't water them. They're super plump and happy, have a decent tap root for reserve to last them through the winter, have just had the roots all disturbed so they need a few weeks to a month rest after potting to avoid rot and by then you will be far into the no-water zone. I see nothing to gain by watering and everything to lose.

At this time your best bet is to just leave them as is.

Thanks, that totally answers my question then.
I was mostly wondering how long the roots needed to recover after potting to avoid rotting. And if you think they look well enough to last the winter ill probably just leave them be.
Can you guys confirm that these are Lophophora williamsii and not some other Lophophora?

Just got these in the mail today!
These are my first Lophs and i am so excited. Can anyone tell by the roots if they are on their original roots or if they were degraffted? Can anyone guess the approximate age based on their size?
How do they look?
For future reference to save your self some time check the depth and number of ribs. Willies have 5 ribs and the ribs are deep and pronounced.

I had degrafted a loph very early during this year and left it on my dresser til it formed a root. Took about 6 months and in that time it still didn't look too shrunken from lack of water.
I would say they look like williamsii, but i am not a professional taxonomist.

hi everyone! got 3 buttons from my friend's loph. 2 of them are with the big stem and 1 is cut in the green part (just like making a trichocereus cutting) i left them to dry for 4 days and planted the one with the cut. (the other 2 are still drying) but now it looks very dry and got shrunk... i think it is gonna die.
what to do with it? and how long should i let the other 2 to dry before planting them (because they seem like they are going to get dry soon too..) and should I plant them in dry or humid soil? thanks for help

that thing seems beyond the salvagable. I recently took a cutting that big (or maybe smaller) of Lophophora Jourdaniana, and it rooted easily in a month, left behind in dry soil and light sun exposition, so i guess that the problem is not the small size.
Was the plant wich you took those buttons by grafted? i do have experience of easy dryng on those ones due less tissue , and i guess that it's really difficult to reroot them, unless very big ( that is why people chose to consume, or regraft to some bigger stock)

Thats the mother plant: big old healty peyote in the pot not grafted. so you say this one is already dead? can I consume it when it is dead? and what to do with the other two (becuase they are in a better condition and I dont want to lose them too)?
6 days passed since I took them. should I plant them now or wait? in humid or dry soil? (the weather in my country is really hot and dry) maybe mist it from time to time? THANKS!
