Thanks Pacha. They're on a southeast-facing windowsill that gets about 3-4 Hours of direct sun a day. The Fricii's and Caespitosa I bought from the vendor, I'm pretty sure he mentioned he grows them under HPS so they may have been growing under that before I bought them. I'm in Ontario, Canada so hot humid summers here, and very cold and dry winters (I let my Cacti go completely dormant during the winter.)

thanks for the info Karode ill go check it out, im just hopin shroomery/growery will one day decide to create a cacti website where we can discuss all this
I'd be all for that, or at the very least as a Botanically-oriented offshoot.
I dont however, see it getting a lot of traffic, as this board usually only has ~15 people on it, and only a handful that post regularly.
However, I'm sure enough people pester Ythan about it he may be able to do something, although I believe they've been doing a lot with hardware stuff for the Shroomery itself.

That's great growth for one year. I just took a pedro cutting yesterday for grafting a loph onto once this weather warms up and they start growing. With a little luck I should have something like yours in a years time.

@SMUCKA: Good job on that graft, she looks plump! Your mushrooms are likely to be inactive Panaeolina foenisecii by the looks of them. Brown spore prints generally mean Panaeolina foenisecii, inactive. Whilst ones with a jet Black spore print are the active Panaeolus cinctulus.

Just de-grafted these a week or so ago started them beginning of last summer 4 L.W. and 1 L.W. var. Jourdaniana. Got quite a few smaller buttons off these but had no stock to work with so I'm hoping there is enough dna to root. Can't wait till they have their own roots they look like bright obese blobs!

I just recently potted a loph a couple weeks ago and have received some more I need to pot since then. The issue here is I just bought all the items I need to make Cactusdan's mineral mix where the other loph that I planted two weeks ago is potted in Cactusdan's trichocereus mix. My question is whether I should re-pot the potted one along with the others or just let it be for a year or so. Oh also, I am mixing some fertilizer in with the mineral mix and I feel it will be a far superior soil. Should I keep the potted one as it is or re-pot it with the others? What would you do?

I just discovered minute webs and some damage on my trichocereus which is near to my lophs. Ive examined my lophs and cant see any hints of spider mite damage. I want to know is there anyway i can keep the mites from getting to my lophs? its a bit late for my trich now i think.

You can get predator mites, but they're usually very expensive IME.
The most cost effective and natural thing I can suggest, is just keep an eye out for them.
Get rid of them on the Trichs and keep checking them.
If you do spot them on your lophs give them weekly blasts of water.
You can shoot from the side to avoid getting the soil too drenched.
Also, if you have them indoors, move them out.
The still air is a pests dream.

Yeah - still air AND protection from predators indoors.
I would quarantine effected plants immediately to another location as my first step.

How do you guys smash up your lava rocks for making mineral mix. I used a pillow case and a hammer assuming from the beginning that I would be scraping that pillow case but it ended up ripping a bunch of holes in the first one and I had to use another one. It also took damn near short of forever to crush and grade them. How do you guys do it?

I imagine most people using lava rock probably buy it at the size they need. Some smaller crushed lava rock - the kind I would like for my own cactus mixes - goes by "lava sand". Unfortunately it seems lacking here but at least there's plenty of pumice around these parts.

Same here... I'm able to find Pumice (after a bit of searching I happened to find it at a local Farm Supply Store that's oddly in the middle of the city of Orange, CA) But.... No lava rock in a size that I can use in soil mixes, just those big obnoxiously sized ones that are intended to be used as mulch.
