I didn't know were to post this but as this is a Loph thread and it is a Loph (cake) I thought this has to be the place where it will be most appreciated.

This is my birthday cake made by my very talented wife. :inlove:
Everything on the plate is edible and hand made including the dirt.

Hi i got two Lophs from a friend as a gift. They should be L. williamsii. Can someone confirm? If they are williamsii, which variety?

I think they are Lophophora Williamsii.
The flowers looks like it, if i remember correctly.
I have always hard to remember this for some reason.

Lophophora Williamsii and Caespitosa got white flowers with some faint pink in them, not pointy flowers.
Lophophora Jourdania got pink/purple flowers, not pointy.
Lophophora Diffusa has sharp/pointed flower tips, cant remember color, white baybe?
Lophophora Diffusa Koehresii has also pointy petals i think, maybe pink color?
Lophophora Decipiens have pink/magenta flowers, not pointy.

Can anyone who is good at this give us an explenation of the flower colors?
I need to remember this and i dont think i have this totally correct.

L.Decipens is the Lophophora with the highest mescaline content and it also seems to be consistently high in mescaline ie. not vary so much.
So if someone is going to eat a loph, the decipens seems the best one.
Personally i would never eat a plant i have spent several years to grow, they become almost family members after that long time.

They do look like L. williamsii

Some flower examples:

koehresii, long pointed petals, sometimes quite a deep coloured stripe

williamsii more rounded but sometimes with a slight point, usually striped, some can be near white

jourdaniana pink broad petals and have unique pink filaments

fricii pink, pointy

diffusa white, often with hints of green or yellow, pointed, but some can have a pink stripe

These are a bit over 2 years now, really think I could have acclimatized them sooner and then watered them more frequently though as a first attempt, there's over 50 of them in there looking pretty healthy.

Think it's about time to get another tray of them going, hopefully they'll look a bit more impressive after 2 years

Thought I'd share my tek on how to pot a bunch of seedlings together, which is hard to do properly by hand.

1. Tie some rubber bands around your pot in a grid fashion (you'll need more than in the pic, I didn't have enough rubber bands)

2. Start placing your seedlings

3. The plants all found their place, I weaved some twigs in the rubber bands to fill the missing spaces.

4. Using a folded piece of paper, fill the pot with your substrate. Don't worry about getting some onto the plants, a little spray afterwards will clean them up.

5. Add a top dressing of akadama (optional, but recommended) and spray to clean the seedlings. All done.

This is the de-graft i mentioned earlier,
Seems to not mind the lack of roots this is its second flower.

They were forced de-grafts after some grubs went to town.
This one had a grub inside it and only noticed as i was about to go away for a week.

Quickly stuck it onto this Pach and it took nicely.
cant wait to see how it goes on a 1.2m root stock,
