I've had anywhere from ~20% to 100%. Age plays a huge role. How they were also plays a role, just like any other seeds.

Except BBB sucks, but since they aren't a sponsor and this thread is about lophs, let's not talk about them.

Yes, To keep it easy I would mix equal parts, sand, perlite, and crushed rock. With a very small amount of compost mixed in.

Have you thought about degrafting? Roots are starting to form.

Did you hear that Got? Maybe you should add a few led arrays to the Australian sun you are using. That will do the trick. Your lophs will be etiolated in no time.
But seriously, I am also interested in your a-v growth rates. Is that the only one you have?

They are actually growing under fluro's in my shed as I have run out of room in my greenhouse but maybe I should get myself some LED's i should be able to set up a tiny little grow area at the same cost that my 8 shelves lit with shity fluros did.
Cheers Got
Honestly, the LEDs probably wouldn't be worth it. It would cost substantially more money to cover the same area as the fluros. Maybe look into soldering your own arrays. It would save you a lot of money, and you could spread the diodes out more to create a larger footprint. IMO T8 fluros are more than enough for seedlings and small grafts. Anything beyond that in age/size, I believe, you are just wasting electricity with artificial light anyway.

GoOnThen said: I have 3 grafted a-v's. The one in the previous post is 42mm and I have one at 38 and the other is 35mm. I have been wondering about how big they are getting. The seeds should have been correct but I would be interested to know what sort of sizes others have got to when grafted. I also did some checking on when I did put the seeds down and it was actually April 2013 so they were probably grafted towards the end of April. Cheers Got
This is what I was concerned about. if the a-v would stay dwarf as a graft, and flower at the small size.

I think you are right. Sometimes I not read so good.

Does grafting cause a species to grow larger than what is typical? I was under the impression they simply gave it the advantage of getting bigger much faster than own root but it wasn't capable of increasing average size of whatever species is being grafted.
I think typically you are correct. I am just curious with the dwarf species, and also I am curious how stable the a-v are or how legitimate the vendors are. I also wonder how proportional the growth rates of the grafted a-v are, compared to other species of lophs, in regrds to flowering age/size.

I can't post the website because it links to his webshop, but Gerhard Köhres runs a more database style website that collects images and information on the different loph species. Anyway, he has access to a scanning electron microscope. He uses it to take pictures of pollen and seeds. I am only going to link a few, but there are a lot more. Pollen:
