On the left is an older seedling and the right it's babies everybody is stretching for light this time of year but is healthy.Excellent work on germination they are a bugger for sure! I only got three living plants out of 100seeds and 25 popping. The first stages of germination it seems very fragile but quickly hardens up.

I`ve been growing kougoed for a year now.
I get all my cuttings from the veld.
It is a very special plant and should be handled as such.

Great pics!!!

How old are your plants, everyone?? I'm thinking of getting me some seeds too.. any tips on germination? oh, by the way, just in case, would anyone have a cutting to trade/sell? just asking, to face the apparent long germination/seedling period..

BEST METHOD
whiterasta (2003)
"I have started a small flat of S.tortuosum.I got good germination at a steady 55-65F temps in 2 weeks but only after mixing the seed with sand and shaking vigorously to score the seed coat (I use this on cannabis to speed germination in strains with thick husks) I use this method for most of my poor germinating varieties with good sucess.I've found with species like Scleletium cuttings are so much easier to work with I usually try to only seed them once and just save seed for emmergencies.Bon Chance!PS lovely photos you post, wish I felt confident enought to share my green house."

I don't think the seeds take that long when using this kind of treatment.

er...uh.. S.E. I am a lazy gardener so with my days I forgot to mist and days of neglect I said two weeks(if they aint up by then out they go!)BTW while I got a fair germination rate(seed quality?) my neglect caused the death of a number of them. There I feel much better now that my secret is out about my gardening style :grin:WR

Scoring the seed coat and leaving them sitting in water for 24 hours would be a good method. Plant just below the soil surface. Soil used would be the same as cacti.... a commercial cacti soil would work well. Plenty of good drainage.. You may need longer than 2 weeks for germination???
