Possible Gymnopilus sp.

Where does it grow? Found in SW Ohio while looking for ovoids.  Riparian Habitat.

What does it grow on? Growing off a log.  I don't know the species of tree.  Very possible this was brought here by a flood because it's bark doesn't look familiar.

Gills: Kind of a pale yellow color.  Attached.

Stem: 3-7 cm in length.  1-2 cm in diameter.  Yellow with dark brown/orange fibers/scales. Solid.

Cap: 2-5 cm in diameter.  Yellow with dark brown scales.  Moist.

Spore print color: In progress.  I'm thinking it'll be rusty orange but we'll see.

Bruising: I can see none.  I have searched them up and down for some green bruising but I see none.  When I picked them the mycelium at the base of the stipe seemed to have a greenish tint and as I inspect them now the faint greenish tint seems to be present in the same place. It's so subtle it may not even be there and I can't get either of my cameras to pick it up.  Wow, that is probably confusing.

Other information: Strong scent.  I don't know how to describe it really.  I tasted a sample and they are very bitter.

Sorry about a couple of the photos.  I wasn't having the best day as a photographer today.

Haha, it's cool.  I don't know if I could eat gyms anyways.  I'd probably give them to a friend.
