Just wondering if anyone here conforms to one particular religion.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

lately my company is pushing me to conform to their standards.
normall the idea of behaving that way feels dirty to me. however, i LIKE ties, as a vestage. i LIKE to look good.
and lately i feel makaveilian enough to like the power i will have by conforming to the professionalisim that may be expected of me.
ive heard alot of talk that they want to do something with me beyond the usual list of jobs open to regular employees.
and today i was actually interveiwed for an administrative position. it went REAL well.
it will certainly be an adjustment for me. but it's definately a step WAY up and an opportunity most people wouldn't get.
id get a huge raise, my own office, and a secured position.
providing i am able to conform and preform.
my girlfriend also will likely be getting a union job in a hospital kitchen, shes a chef with cullinary training, and very close to being a fully certified chef. we will both be making ALOT more money, be in fulfulling jobs, and be firmly on the ladder of success with plenty higher for the climb.
she went to collage. i diddn't, and i don't regret it
somehow, ive got something that people recognize. maybe its luck or charm or ethic, i can't say for sure. im profoundly spiritual but understandably so. and im someone people trust.
ive stopped in the local masonic lodge once or twice to talk to some masons about petition. ive even gotten some phone numbers.  but I've decided to get to know some in real life first, whenever that may be so that i will have their support and they will now that im of good moral character.  beleive it or not it is my very intention to grow old and live a quiet life with a series of accomplishments as my legacy. freemasonry has always been a passion of mine, the research i have made speaks to me in a....an interesting way that really cannot be communicated effectively, but i assume if its any concern to you the reader, youre already well versed with the pecularity of a spiritual life and its distractions. this forum for example.

i MAY take a post-seconday position at the local art collage, im being pushed towards it from evry angle, my co-workers, my family, and even students at the collage tell me im wasting my time and talent and that i should get the certification, training and grades i would easily acheive.
i do not doubt it.  but i cant make money at school and im not exactly ahead finacially in any huge degree.
admitst current turmoil im breaking even, once that passes ill be back to full steam and after the aformentioned job enhancements and unformentioned tax returns, i will be better off than i have ever known.
the new hours will also allow me to take hobbies and participate in charitable organizations and certain fraternal organizations.
heck collage too.
the point is, its so comfortable to be a lazy bum and take nothing seriously.
conforming is something ive never really done. in highschool i diddnt even try, i used to dress like a crazy person. i wore army pants for a fat man, cynched around my 20" waist (i was THIN) and tied around my legs with old leather sleeves from an old leather jacket which i also wore sometimes, sleveless of course.
i also often wore a safari helmet whenever posible and had hair down to my butt. basically i LOOKED liek a samurai
i also exercized out in the soccar feild doing flips and diverolls and shotokan karate evry day.
kids used to tease me, untill one day when one tried to rough me up and dislocated his arm and gave him crazy eyes.
his buddies just stared.

and this crazy, intense, maybe a bit delusional, kid. has to conform to take advantage of this talent that evryone says i have.  well, sure, ok, ill conform. i mean, i can be anyone on the outside. and to my friends and family i'll always be mitch.
just more presentable and socially active.
yuck, it almost taste filty to say that, sort of bitter, metallic. like rust shavings and ciggarette butts.
but its all part of my big plan, the plan of me, my big secret, how i make it. kinda like phish's "the story of a ghost"  except the ghost is outer conformity, maybe it will make me a ghost, who can say?
i like to think of myself as a philodendron. reaching out farther and farter, stretching thinner and thinner till i am evrywhere and nowhere, and pick off a peice from anywhere, you can root me and start all over
heh heh heh.
and im suppose to conform.
wish me luck

I know how you feel mitch...

i used to be all about 'not selling out', but that rigid thought process has gotten so dogmatic (i guess thats the right word for it) there are so many different unknown opportunities out there lying in wait, you cant just walk around thinking you know what is what, and what constitutes conformity, etc, when there are so many more experiences to learn from.

jobs are just jobs, they don't have to make you who you are if you don't want them to.

imo there is like this social 'machine', ive noticed, that just sort of subtley directs many aspects of your life... i can't really put my finger on it but i can definately sense it. its like a dark blanket of unoriginal thought and social herd mentality. it seems to be everywhere, and it's got really empty vibes. but like i said, i can't avoid it if i haven't walked through the muck of it.

basically i just keep thinking to myself of who i am, and who i've been all my life, and i feel that familiar warm sense of divine and aware happiness, and as long as ive got that i feel confident in my life's changes and travels.

I just made that up.

LOL!

Conformity? I've gone to punk concerts and looked around to find everyone all dressing the same, and punk is against conforming. I find that strange. The way to go is to just try to be yourself.

Is an elaborate dream?

Is it all you want it to be?

hehehe... so true.
Even the "hardcore" kids dress the same. Only the foolhardy dare to call them conformists... as a parting gift, you'll receive a heel to the teeth and a ride in the meatwagon.

Even the Sex Pistols weren't exactly legit. They were more or less punk's version of a boy band (and, hey, I think they're funny as hell!).

Man... I could really go off on today's "punk"... but I don't want to derail this thread too much...
