    #12617322 - 05/23/10 11:11 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

well it still heats up and runs but the tumbler doesnt spin around.  i guess in the next couple days i'll take it apart and see what i can do.  ive never worked on a washer or dryer before.

anyone ever had this happen.  it looks like i may end up having to buy a new one

to my understanding, a lot of the parts that break in a washer or dryer are usually as expensive to replace as buying a new one.

a motor might be the only thing you need though, and you might be able to find one for cheap.

I have never worked on a dryer or washer though, just what ive heard from a few people who have tried it themselves.

If you can't figure it out, consider selling it on craigslist instead of throwing it away, someone might be able to fix it either way and its worth trying to get it to someone else than just adding to the trash heaps. I see posts on CL all the time looking to buy broken household things like fridges/dryers/toasters etc

motors dont often go bad in driers, it's more than likely the belt

I am an appliance repairman by trade. Shoot me a PM and I can get this fixed for you. Don't just jump to "buy new". It can be fixed very inexpensively.

wow, my imagination really helps everyone else

not trying to be rude, but this is the DIY forum and you just fixed something that a lot of people probably send useful stuff to the dump over.

you could feel good for not only helping people reduce their waste but helping them save money as well.

we will all benefit in the long run.

but whatever, hoard all the information for yourself  your government would approve.
