Which side of the cake up?
    #1261417 - 01/30/03 10:44 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

I was just curious if you guys put the verm side (the side toword the opening of the jar) of the cake up or down. My dog started a cake with the verm side down and thought nothing was happening and then he turned it over an wham! bunches of pins. He then left the cake verm side up after that to let them get more light. But, he noticed that some pictures he found on the web site showed the verm side down. Does it matter?

whereabouts on the cake did the pins form?
all on one end?
which end, relative to the jar and relative to the perlite it's sitting on? or, what IS it sitting on?

Well, if the mycelium hadn't already colonized the verm barrier, and it probably won't, then you'll only get pins from the sides. So, it would be better yield-wise to put the verm side down on the lid.
