According to wiki, specifically http://content.karger.com/ProdukteD/produkte.asp?doi=10.1159/000104144 Human gastric juices contain chitinases, its only an abstract. Either way breaking the spores open will allow more of the goodies to be used. Just food for thought.

Well what I'm figuring here is...they refer to 'spore breaking' solely for the dry spore powder offered in capsule form which would be sold elsewhere. I suspose...using high heat baking
Either way, doing some Reishi tea will apparently break down the chitin.

I thought the whole reason shrooms cause nausea is the difficulty in digesting chitin. Some people cook em or make tea for this very purpose, it's supposed to make it easier to digest.

Wow, really awesome article here explaining more recent talk of how Chitinases are playing roles in our lives and that 'old knowledge' like spore cracking is kind of, obsolete. Seems my foot was in my mouth earlier
Ah...but always good to learn. Better late then never, fascinating stuff to read up on.

Im guessing the heat disrupts bonding between the parallel chitin chains making enzymatic action more efficient.
