combating nausea
    #1261192 - 01/30/03 09:38 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

ok, sorry to bring this subject up again but ive searched around the forum and couldnt find what i was looking for so ill just make another post.
well around the end of feb. (or maybe even a little longer) im planning on doing my second high dose of mushrooms. ive been preparing for this since my last high dose trip which was on 8g's around a week or so before the beginning of january. but one thing i didnt prepare for was the intense nausea i encountered during that last trip. i spent a good 45mins-1hour in the washroom during this trip wondering how i was going to keep from tossing my cookies, or rather mushrooms and when the nausea would stop. so, im looking for anything which can help with the nausea. heres the bad part. i live in a pretty small town but about a 45min drive away is a bit of a larger city which does have a couple health food stores in it but they dont carry to many 'exotic' remedies. so if anyone could suggest some easier to get med's or just anything that will help with nausea on my next trip that would be great!
thanks,
.cel.

Over the counter antihistamines are OK for nausea, but they might make your head a little "fuzzy".

Marijuana is proven to fight nausea, and I highly recommend it.

If you dont wanna smoke, try using an anti-motion sickness pill such as Drammamine, which can be found pretty much anywhere like Rite Aid, Walgreens, Giant Foods, ect.

This worked well for me, but I only dosed 2g, if not less.

Mix up some chicken broth (I used boolean cube) and add just a touch (edit: JUST A TOUCH! a pinch, a dab'll do ya! This stuff is strong in the flavor department) of ginger. Drink 30 minutes to an hour before you dose; and maybe another cup while you dose. It adds a unique flavor to the broth and the only stomach problems I had was a little pain (  ) that lasted only 3 - 5 minutes. Very little nausea.

It was, again, only 2 grams; but I thought this helped me. I also ate a tuna sandwich about 4 hours prior to my dose.

I can second that ginger works to help nausea and IS VERY strong in the flavor department and its not very good!!!

Ginger capsules work quite well for shroom trips. Take a few before ingesting, then take 1 between each few mouthfuls of shrooms. You may feel a little nausea, but certainly not as much as normal.

antihistamines (diphenhydramine HCI) are anti itch medicines and sleep aids, so i wouldent reccomend those for nasea. Go down to the local drug store and get some motion sickness pills like dramamine or somthin if it is that much of a problem for you.

Trust me,they work for nausea.Histamine is one of the chemicals in the brain that controls nausea. They are pretty good for mild anxiety too.

Also,if I'm not mistaken,Dramamine is an antihistamine.

By the time you feel nausea I'll bet you've absorbed most of the psilocybin, so if you do puke it wont stop or hinder your trip much if at all. Correct me if i'm wrong, just my thought.

I agree, that was one of my experiences on Morning Glory, i got hella nauseated and threw up my MG Ground seeds mixed with orange juice concoction about 15-30 mins after injestion. I wasent expecting to trip, but i tripped hard.

and about the dramamine, it says its an Antiemetic.

right, so either relax or puke at that point

some people are afraid of puking, but hey ya feel so much better afterwards, so go for it .... I basically never need to, although my high-dose ayahuasca trip last week had to come back up  That stuff's mean to my stomache, so I got rid of it  Just make sure you keep it with you for at least 45 mins or an hour or so and you should certainly still trip.

The only thing annoying about puking is sitting there thinking "ok should that do it? uh-oh one more!" lol our bodies are fuckin amazing

I threw up one time like 20-30 minutes into my trip. i thought that i'd lose the trip as well. but boy did i trip. also, i became fascinated with the throwing up. later on i was thinking of activities we could do to make time pass, and i suggested throwing up, i grew so fond of it, because it made the nausea go way. hehehe. silly me.

My first trip, I spewed about an hour into the trip, and it didn't affect the intensity of the trip at all. I just felt bummed for puking. With nausea, you can try and battle it out for as long as you can, remain calm, and lying down, or in a comfortable space, and try and ride it out. If after 30 mins, you still feel sick as shit, throwing up could be the only solution, and you'll feel better afterwards (as everyone has pointed out).
The second trip, I had ginger pills, and although I had a small bout of nausea that felt similar to my first trip, it disappeared rather quickly and things were absolutely fine and dandy after that.

Almost every time I trip, I get nausea, but never throw up; even with a level 5.

It's really annoying, because I want to throw up, so I know that it's not such a horrible thing.
