Crusty on the inside
    #12603573 - 05/21/10 11:35 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

I just birthed 12 jars, and got them into pinning conditions. Unfortunetly, i didnt have the oportunity to dunk (this is all happening at my other house i only visit every 2 days). So, instead i just sprayed them like crazy and knocked them up with a syringe full of water each. (dont wory, i've dont this before).

Anyways, i let my buddy do a couple of the jars before PCing, and lo and behold, when i go to hit a couple of the cakes with water the syringe hit a core that i can only describe as sounding crusty when i hit it. It was like, baked or something (but no way). Im not sure if it just didnt colonize, or mabey the middle is completely dry.

Just wondering if anyone's had this problem with PF cakes before. to summarize, crusty insides, didnt open them, just felt it and heard it with the syringe.

thanks!

it is very sponge-like. As long as there is some water sitting inside the cake for a wile, it will be obsorbed. You think your being a smart-ass, but your really being an idiot. obviously you came into this thread to be an asshole, and pick on the one aspect of my post you disagree with.

I asked a question, dickhead. people like you should be puked on more often

A 24 hour dunk would be sufficient for PF style cakes.  I'm sure you CAN use a syringe to inject water into the cake, but a simple spoon full of vermiculite on top of the cake can act as a water reservoir.  That crusty noise is from the vermiculite which has a crunch to it.

If you dunked inbetween flushes, mist accordingly, and use the proper amount of perlite/geolite.  That is enough, injected water into your cakes is frivolous, impractical, and unnecessary.

I wouldn't be posting if I didn't give a shit, good luck asshole.

oh, so now your back to be helpful and save the day? well, im not retarted, i've done this before AS STATED, and i know how to properly hydrate a cake. Yes, i know the amount obsorbed will be negligable, but its better then the alternative which is nothing. Its the first flush anyways, and my cakes are fat, so they should be ok without a full dunk until the second flush.

I know what verm sounds like. I know thats not what i heard, because i have 10 normal cakes and a long history of other cakes that have never crunched before. This is like pressing through a thick layer and hearing a bite of cerial type crunch.

Its nice to know that you now care enough to give useless advice after your first, much more enlightening post. Cram it, dickface

im not sure i follow. If you mean why do this again, its because i cant afford the time to dunk for this flush. Im not starting now, im resuming now. And again, i said that exact line so people wouldnt come in here and start picking on that one issue which i know you would all obsess with.

If you dont have anything useful to say, dont bother saying it. i dont care about the damn syringes with water in them, its really not a huge deal.

Maybe it's your subconscious, but I don't think you know what you wrote.

Don't presume to have any control over what others say. You can start the thread, but as soon as you post it, you've lost control of it.:peace:

i wrote lots of detail. But again, as i sumarized, im specifically asking about the crustyness inside my cakes, and if ANYONE has had experience with this. The rest was to give an idea of how i have arrived at this point.

Im pretty sure the idea of posting a thread is to set the general direction in which the conversation should be bound. Of course, when idiots jump into threads to troll and critisize nothing ever gets answered. I remember a time when people would concern themselves with the thread topics when it came to cultivation questions.

More useless criticism. If you really want to fill threads with crap why dont you visit the pub?

1)You ask a question someone would only have an answer to had they cut corners, as you have.

2)You flame the first person who responds. (this is against forum rules, maybe you should visit OTD)

no, actually, im looking for a response to the question i asked. That has yet to happen, and has not happened since breakfast issued his first useless response.

You, also, seem to have nothing to contribute. Thanks for stopping by, and for all that help  :boo:

I know people on here cut corners. The only thing i have done quickly is not dunked, and for good reason. Im asking for people who have stuck their cakes with something before, and i know from experience that people have. I've been reading and writing posts longer then you. Your an asshole.

yes, i have, so what? I've also yielded 3 ounces from 9 cakes, so stfu, get over yourself, and answer my question or piss off.

(dont wory, i've done this before) means that i've knocked my cakes with water before. And, lo and behold, beautiful flushes. Apparently your way isnt the only way set in stone. Thanks for trying to critisize the one aspect that i clearly didnt care about, though.

Thank you! yeah, i might end up doing that. I've got it isolated in a chronic tek jar, so im hoping it will grow out normally. I might attack one with the knife and see whats up, though.

again, thanks for a level-headed non-confrontational & hyper-critical response! [sigh of relief]
