handling syringes and the timing of birthing
    #12602988 - 05/21/10 09:02 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Hi,
I have two questions.

1. First about syringes. I understand that it is better to keep spore syringes in the refrigerator. My question is: is this a must? how long can a spore syringe last when not inside a refrigerator but in a dark space with a temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius.

2. Let's say I have two cakes and I want to birth them both today. One of them is entirely colonized. the other one is about 98% colonized. there remains some partly yellow grains in the jar (i use corn grains for the colonization phase). As I said, in this theoretical case, I need to start birthing today. Can I birth both of them together even though one jar is only 98% colonized, or is it impossible or too dangerous to fruit a jar that is not totally colonized.

thank you!

Ensof

Keep syringes in a cool, dark place.  The refrigerator is not absolutely necessary.  They should be good for a year or two at least.

Don't birth ANY cake until it's been 100% colonized for at least one full week.
