I was just at the hardware store and they were getting rid of this for less than $1/per so I bought a couple. Decent?

I don't use that exact stuff per se but the gypsum I do use has a very similar gauranteed analysis as the gypsum you pictured.
I think it would work great.

I bought a huge ass bag of gyspum a long time ago and the bag ended up ripping after a year or so and I transferred it to another bunch of bags--so I have NO idea what brand or anything I've been using for a long time!
I just noticed there's another thread about gypsum going on too. I think I'm going to go with this:
http://www.amazon.com/Espoma-Organic-Traditions-Garden-Gypsum/dp/B000KL5HVQ
For sale locally for 6 bucks.
Anybody got anything on that? I've never ground up my gypsum either--I hope this is reasonably soluble.

A lot of gypsum for lawn and garden work comes in a pelletized form (little pellets/balls instead of a crystalline solid powder form). If you buy powdered gypsum or grind your pelletized gypsum in a coffee grinder it tends to be released into your sub a little more quickly. I've never ground mine but some do. This new Epsoma stuff seems to be decently water soluble so it's not really an issue.

i use the espoma brand. shits good. i was reading you could dump a bunch of it in a gallon container wit water and then its easier to evenly distribute and you could keep it like that just shake before use.

Ya, just be sure to record how much water you dump it in with and include this in your calculations for your sub mix!

I know the feeling. I just bought a fold out table at Target and then went to Wal-mart for something else and it was half the price! Super lame--took it back but I still paid more with my time.....

yea like mix 2 quarts water with 2 quarts gypsum. then you would use about a pint or quart depending on you subs volume. just use it with the water you hydrate with.
