Should i colonize in bag or tray
    #12595929 - 05/20/10 01:07 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

I had a couple different 'issues' that made me lose almost all of my jars so with the lil I got left I'm just gonna go to bulk in a little shoe box.

Well I mixed everything together in a filtered bag and was wonderin if I should just let it colonize in the bag then just cut it open and put it in the box to fruit or just put it in the box now. Like would more handling right before fruiting be detrimental or would it be better off in the bag away from any contams? Of course the more sterile the better but not if it may damage my myc plus I can have it in the bag in the box so it'll be the right size/shape.

I doubt either way should really be a prob but that's all the spores I got till I either order more or these ones finish so I don't wanna fuq them up now. Any suggestions??

-youre gonna put it directly into a shoe box?
-what are you doing with the bag?
  -making a sub?
  -what kind?
- how are you starting the bag?
  -MS/clone/grain?
-sounds like youre gonna crumble a cake, which may or may not be in a jar. clarify.

Ok most of my jars got thrown away or had some other contam issue or stalled so I got 1 pint cracked corn and 1 pint brf spawned to coir (damion5050's tek) at 1/4. I'm going to put it in a 13 1/2" x 8" 'minimono' but instead of mixing by hand or using other utensils I mixed it in a bag. Well the most sterile bag I had was a filtered bag. So I mixed and layered it and decided to just keep it in there until fruiting since it would keep the perfect humidity/keep contams out.

Well once 1oo% colonized can I safely move it without breaking/damaging the myc? or should I get in its lil tub now before it even colonizes? I know cakes are safe to handle but would colonized coir have a diff consistency making it more damage prone? Seems like the only harm would be wasting the bag but I'd rather figure out before it becomes an issue.

Of course everything will be done very very carefully but I don't want my myc to snap in half right when I'm about to induce fruiting especially if it can be avoided!

Thankx
